These are just a few of the many questions that were asked on the webinar ‘How to Deliver Uncompromising Branch Application Performance‘:
- Would DMVPN also allow me to easily integrate networks using multiple MPLS providers?
- Is there a specific router model, IOS required for a PfRv3 branch controller and master controller?
- Can you explain how the direct spoke-to-spoke routing is accomplished when using DMVPN?
- Is using BGP with DMVPN scalable? Wouldn’t we have to define each neighbor?

If you have been following Cisco Blogs, attending CiscoLive, or reading industry publications like Network World, you’ve probably heard about Cisco’s Intelligent WAN or IWAN solution. For those of you that haven’t been in the loop, have more questions, or are just plain curious about the Intelligent WAN, we have a short webinar series kicking off on the 6th of November at 10am PST. We will cover the important building blocks for architecting your hybrid WAN infrastructure including:
- Defining the Hybrid WAN
- In-depth technical analysis of Cisco’s Hybrid WAN Solution: IWAN
- How IWAN can help to lower your IT costs
If you belong to an IT organization that is centralizing applications in the public or private cloud to gain efficiencies or are migrating the Internet edge in your branch offices to take advantage of software as a service (SaaS) applications, then make sure you attend this live 60-minute webcast, the first of a four-part series. We will show you how a hybrid WAN architecture can help you deliver a consistently high-quality end-user experience while actually reducing your WAN operating costs.
Still not sure if IWAN is for you? Consider these other trends that might be happening in your enterprise network today that could end up causing many sleepless nights in the future:
- Mobile devices continue to proliferate, and high-bandwidth applications such as video are becoming more and more commonplace, putting pressure on the WAN.
- According to Nemertes, most organizations’ WAN budgets will remain flat or decline in 2015, meaning that adding bandwidth is often not an option.

A few weeks back, Gartner analyst Bjarne Munch stated, “Internet and MPLS play an equally important role for enterprise connectivity. Network planners must establish a unified WAN with strong integration between these two networks to avoid performance problems.”[i]
So, why should IT move to a hybrid WAN architecture? What are the benefits?
#1 – Control Costs
Growth in bandwidth demand is overwhelming customer networks, particularly at the branch. IP traffic is expected to grow three times over the next five years due to video, cloud applications, rich media and data center centralization. At the same time, Nemertes’ 2014 WAN Best Practices and Success Factors report states that 60% of IT WAN budgets will remain flat or decline in 2015. Read More »

Has this happened to you? The line of business comes to you one day and says they have this great new idea to train the sales teams. “Let’s use YouTube videos”, they say. Or the CMO comes to you and says, “digital signage will increase our revenue if we can promote this next new line of products that is about to launch”. Or “This new cloud application looks great and it will increase employee productivity!”
But all you could say was ‘no, that’s not possible’. Not because you didn’t want to enable each of these groups but because 1) you are short of resources or 2) budget is tight or 3) the infrastructure just isn’t ready yet. Any or all of the above?
With 80% of the workforce in a non-HQ location, enabling these digital services is daunting to IT. What happens to other business critical applications if the WAN is flooded with YouTube videos? Digital Signage is a great idea, sure, but how do I distribute those HD videos or images to the stores? Cloud applications may seem like not much as a user but what happens if all my users are accessing the cloud at the same time? Read More »

“Location, Location, Location” is what you need to keep in mind for real estate in the physical world. But in today’s
enterprise environment where everything is virtual and many critical apps are in the data center or cloud, the most important thing is connectivity.
So welcome to the era of connectivity, connectivity, connectivity!
As connectivity is so important, what can we do to ensure the uptime of the branch WAN connectivity without increasing costs?
