Silverlight exploits are the drive-by flavor of the month. Exploit Kit (EK) owners are adding Silverlight to their update releases, and since April 23rd we have observed substantial traffic (often from Malvertising) being driven to Angler instances partially using Silverlight exploits. In fact in this particular Angler campaign, the attack is more specifically targeted at Flash and Silverlight vulnerabilities and though Java is available and an included reference in the original attack landing pages, it’s never triggered.

Angler exploit content types delivered to victims, application/x-gzip (Java) is notably absent

Next week, Microsoft will be hosting over 16,000 attendees from over 160 countries at their Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston, Texas. Cisco is again a proud sponsor of this event and complete details about our participation are available on Cisco.com.
Stop by booth #1401 where Cisco will be demonstrating:
In addition to demonstrating the products and solutions that have catapulted Cisco to the #2 blade server vendor worldwide1, Rex Backman will be speaking on “Leveraging Cisco Datacenter Assets to Drive Private Cloud Revenue” Wednesday (4:00 – 5:00 PM, Hilton America Grand Ballroom D).
Both the Nexus 1000V and FlexPod won Best of TechEd 2013 awards. This was the third year in a row for a Cisco product to be so honored.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at WPC. Join the conversation on social media using the hashtag #CiscoWPC. If you won’t be able to join us and would like to learn more about how Cisco is changing the economics of the datacenter, I would encourage you to review this presentation on SlideShare or my previous series of blog posts, Yes, Cisco UCS servers are that good. Or visit the Microsoft Cisco UCS portal.

I have lost count of the number of trade shows I’ve worked over my career. But working trade shows for Cisco over the past 14 months has been a uniquely positive experience. Microsoft TechEd North America 2013 makes my 5th show evangelizing Cisco UCS and our solutions.
I have been able to have long (sometimes up to 45 minutes) conversations with potential customers who have heard about UCS and want to learn more. Their reactions on how Cisco does it differently from others in the industry is an eye-opener for them – whether it the technology or the economics of the solution. They all walk away saying they are going to have to dig deeper into our solutions and contact their account team / partner.
It has become almost embarrassing the amount of praise our current customers heap on us when they come by the booth. Embarrassing because I’m just a very small part of what makes UCS successful; Cisco has a very strong team behind UCS and I wish they all could hear the great things the customers are saying about their experiences.
There are still two days left to stop by the Cisco booth and learn about:
- UCS Solutions FlexPod, VSPEX, Exchange, SQL Server
- UCS Manager
- Nexus 1000V
- VM FEX
- Cisco Email Security

Scheduling a collaboration meeting is now easier than ever with Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS). With Cisco TMS, users can schedule video meetings as they do any other meeting through Microsoft Outlook. TMS extends the reach of Microsoft Exchange to include video meeting rooms as resources that can be scheduled along with other details for the meeting including attendees, notes, etc. TMS extends the scheduling capabilities of Microsoft Outlook to a company’s telepresence systems with a touch of a button.
Check out this video of Cisco Collaboration Group managing engineer Tony Intrabartolo as he schedules a collaboration meeting through Microsoft Outlook.

Great news on the Cisco UCS momentum as we continue to gain market share. The innovative Cisco UCS B250 M2 blade server today won the “Best of Show” award in the Hardware and Storage category at Microsoft TechEd 2011 in Atlanta. There were more than 300 submissions in various categories, out of which 47 made it to the finals. We blogged about this in detail earlier here.
This esteemed award, along with the announcements made earlier this week about Cisco’s solution for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, and participation in the Hyper-V Fast Track program further validate that UCS is a very compelling solution for efficiently running Microsoft Enterprise application and private cloud solutions.
