Growing Market Share Leadership in Mobility – #1 in Packet Core, EPC, MME, SGW, & PGW for Q2 2015, driven by demand for LTE, Wi-Fi, VoWi-Fi, VoLTE, Policy Suite.
Wasn’t that a great lunar event Sunday Night? We had a great view of the full moon, lunar eclipse, blood moon last night that won’t occur again until 2030 something. A before and after picture of the lunar event.
So the reason I am blogging this week is to give you an update from Read More »

Well I told you that we would be back real soon with another update and here you go. As you remember we recently blogged that ACG Research again confirmed that Cisco continues to be the leading provider of Mobile Packet Core and Mobile IP Infrastructure over the past several quarters.
Now another analyst firm, IHS Infonetics Research highlights that Cisco has indeed increased our Mobile Packet Core in Lead to 24.9%, an increase of +4.5% points from Q1 2015 based on EPC / 3G Packet Core data in their report “Mobile Infrastructure Equipment” for Q2 2015. That is three consecutive quarters in a row that IHS Infonetics Data has shown that Cisco has increased our market share for the Mobile Packet Core.
So where is this customer momentum Read More »

I was reading the latest ACG Research report on Mobile IP Infrastructure and reflecting how the importance of the IP Packet Core has evolved, and how the technology leaders in this area have also evolved.
Back in the “3G era” the Packet Core sat alongside the Voice Core, and was considered an adjunct to the Radio Access Network. The traditional RAN vendors would often bundle the core as part their end-to-end contract. Since initial data services where Mobile Broadband, and monetisation was just based on volume, 3G Packet Cores were all about “feeds and speeds”.
With 4G/LTE the all-IP nature makes the Packet Core the heart of Read More »

As businesses globally begin to recognize the potential of the Internet of Everything (IoE) in terms of how they structure, manage and improve their operations, it’s leading waves of network-led transformations. Whether in resources, energy, transport or utility verticals, the network is adopting an instrumental role in supporting the production systems that can improve productivity, safety, cost efficiency, visibility and control. With many of these environments being dynamic, distributed and highly mobile, the need for mission-critical, high-performance wireless networks has become obvious, and with it the demand for solutions that offer more throughput, better access and reduced complexity.
While a range of wireless technologies are available, LTE has been gradually seizing mindshare of OT network managers and strategists as a platform for the future. Enjoying global standardisation Read More »

So the Summer of 2015 is quickly coming to a close here in New England, which means Fall is coming, and the leaves will soon begin to change color with the cooler temperatures. But according to ACC Research the Mobile Infrastructure is getting hot again, and starting to grow, which is great news.
According to ACG Research since 2014 mobile operators have been shifting more of their expenditures from the RAN to the packet core and to IP backhaul to more efficiently and economically offload data traffic and deploy innovative new services. Read More »
