Cisco Partner Summit kicks off in two short weeks! This is my first Partner Summit as senior vice president of the Worldwide Partner Organization (WWPO), and I couldn’t be more excited for the discussion, the engagement, and most importantly, the opportunities that await us.
Partner Summit is one of the most important Cisco events of the year. Whether you’ll be joining us live in Boston or you’ll be one of the thousands of Cisco partners attending our Virtual Partner Summit, remember that this event is all about you. It’s your chance to interact with us, it’s our chance to listen to you, and most of all it’s everybody’s chance to have fun together.

As partner event season kicks into high gear, we’re focused on some of Cisco’s biggest gatherings, including Cisco Partner Summit in early June and Cisco Live in late June. Of more immediate interest, however, is Cisco Marketing Velocity, which kicks off early next week in gorgeous Cannes, France. Check out the roster if you haven’t had a chance; there are some impressively big-name speakers on the schedule, ready to share the latest in insights, technologies, social media best practices and marketing techniques with more than 200 Cisco partners from around the world.
I asked Cisco partners that have attended Velocity in the past to share thoughts on why the conference is a worthwhile investment, and here’s a look at what we discussed. Meanwhile, keep an eye on the Channels blog and follow both @partnervelocity and @cisco_channels for coverage of the event. Read More »

By the year 2015, connected mobile devices will overtake desktop usage and Wi-Fi access traffic will surpass wired access traffic. From 2012 to 2017, mobile data will grow 13-fold. Looking at statistics like these, it’s clear that mobility isn’t just another trend or hot topic – it’s a fundamental transformation of how businesses and their employees access information and accomplish work. And it’s creating more opportunities for Cisco partners to engage with customers than ever before.
But the mobility opportunity is more than just a discussion of one or two technologies. A true mobility conversation includes examining your customers’ mobile workforce strategies and taking a solutions-based approach to increasing worker productivity.

Welcome to the inaugural edition of Cisco Partner Weekly Rewind. Every Friday, we’ll highlight the most important Cisco partner news and stories of the week, as well as point you to significant Cisco-related content you may have missed along the way. Let’s have at it.

Edison Peres, senior vice president, worldwide channels, highlighted significant wins for Cisco at this week’s Channel Champions awards, presented by UBM Tech and CRN at XChange Solution Provider in Orlando. Cisco won an overall 16 awards – not too shabby! – and several overall category wins, including Unified Communications, for the 10th straight year, and midrange servers.
As Edison notes, that server win, for technology crucial to Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) strategy, is particularly significant.
“Just look at how much this community has grown: 3,000 partners actively selling UCS Solutions and more than 20,000 end customers,” Edison writes. “Partners are building software solutions using the UCS developer tools we’ve provided and major strategic allies like VCE, NetApp, and Hitachi are winning in the data center with our combined technology and solutions.”
Check out photos of all the Champs winners, including Cisco, here, and Cisco’s Wendy Bahr, Richard McLeod and Thomas Wells collecting the hardware (at right).
Speaking of UCS, there are now build-to-order and configure-to-order options for UCS available from distributors Ingram Micro and Tech Data in Canada – part of an ongoing push toward UCS enablement for Cisco distributors around the world. As ChannelBuzz.ca’s Robert Dutt notes, it’s an important move because it “could drop the leadtime for a UCS order from months to days.”

It’s been four years since Cisco officially introduced the Unified Computing System (UCS) and began the challenge of convincing the industry – and the channel – that we were serious about being a server player and serious about making a difference in the data center.
We all heard the naysayers at first, and especially our competitors, saying: “Cisco? Servers? What does a networking company know about servers?” We had our work cut out for us.
Today we’re proud to have a number of industry accolades for Cisco’s data center strategy behind UCS, and a continued and growing partnership with a range of channel allies building ecosystem-based solutions around UCS. Just look at how much this community has grown:3,000 partners actively selling UCS Solutions and more than 20,000 end customers. Partners are building software solutions using the UCS developer tools we’ve provided, and major strategic allies like VCE, NetApp and Hitachi are winning in the data center with our combined technology and solutions.
