As partner event season kicks into high gear, we’re focused on some of Cisco’s biggest gatherings, including Cisco Partner Summit in early June and Cisco Live in late June. Of more immediate interest, however, is Cisco Marketing Velocity, which kicks off early next week in gorgeous Cannes, France. Check out the roster if you haven’t had a chance; there are some impressively big-name speakers on the schedule, ready to share the latest in insights, technologies, social media best practices and marketing techniques with more than 200 Cisco partners from around the world.
By the year 2015, connected mobile devices will overtake desktop usage and Wi-Fi access traffic will surpass wired access traffic. From 2012 to 2017, mobile data will grow 13-fold. Looking at statistics like these, it’s clear that mobility isn’t just another trend or hot topic – it’s a fundamental transformation of how businesses and their employees access information and accomplish work. And it’s creating more opportunities for Cisco partners to engage with customers than ever before.
But the mobility opportunity is more than just a discussion of one or two technologies. A true mobility conversation includes examining your customers’ mobile workforce strategies and taking a solutions-based approach to increasing worker productivity.

As Edison notes, that server win, for technology crucial to Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) strategy, is particularly significant.
“Just look at how much this community has grown: 3,000 partners actively selling UCS Solutions and more than 20,000 end customers,” Edison writes. “Partners are building software solutions using the UCS developer tools we’ve provided and major strategic allies like VCE, NetApp, and Hitachi are winning in the data center with our combined technology and solutions.”

Speaking of UCS, there are now build-to-order and configure-to-order options for UCS available from distributors Ingram Micro and Tech Data in Canada – part of an ongoing push toward UCS enablement for Cisco distributors around the world. As ChannelBuzz.ca’s Robert Dutt notes, it’s an important move because it “could drop the leadtime for a UCS order from months to days.”
