Think about it, when was the last time the business said “thank you” to IT? It’s probably been a while. Unfortunately, all too often we hear complaints that IT is too slow, or that IT is the department of “no”.
Deploying a private cloud is one way to help turn IT into the department of “yes”, with faster and more responsive IT service delivery. The customers of Cisco Intelligent Automation for Cloud have compressed the cycle time for IT provisioning from weeks to minutes. That means that project managers and application developers no longer have to wait for IT – they can speed up their projects and get business applications up and running more quickly.
And if there’s one golden rule to remember for your private cloud solution, it’s that the business wants apps. They’ll be thankful if you can provision and manage their applications in a cloud environment with consistency, reliability and speed.
So if you’re interested in on-demand application delivery for your private cloud, check out this presentation from Cisco Intelligent Automation and our ecosystem partner rPath:
My last post described some of the cloud-based home healthcare services that broadband service providers are beginning to offer. Central to this idea is third-party partnerships: allowing outside healthcare providers into the traditional “walled garden” of telecom services. It’s easy to see how this model could be extended beyond healthcare.
One can imagine all sorts of value-added cloud applications that third parties could deliver over wireline networks. Indeed, one can envision a future in which service providers follow in the footsteps of Apple’s App Store and the Google Android Marketplace, where subscribers can choose from among thousands of third-party cloud apps that take advantage of their home broadband connections, gateways, and TV set-top boxes (STBs).
I was fascinated with genetics when I was young, and still to this day, I somewhat regret that I didn’t choose Life Sciences as my major. I was amazed in 2000 to see that a group of scientists under the Human Genome Project has completely sequenced genome -- a full five years before the expected date of completion. This project was considered a mega project because the human genome has billions of base-pairs, and was carried out by geneticists in many countries.
How did they do it? I’d attribute the success to collaborative efforts and the power of AND, or one plus one is greater than two. It may be hard for me to explain the laws of math behind this equation to my second grader, but this is the power that drove the success of the Human Genome Project. Today, I want to share with you another great example of this power in-force: the Cisco EnergyWise Ecosystem Partnership.
