Collaboration Notes from Cisco Live: Wednesday Wrap-Up

You know it’s a star-studded day when the morning starts with Rebecca Jacoby, the afternoon features Rowan Trollope and Jonathan Rosenberg, and the night ends with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry wearing this year’s freshly minted Cisco Live hat. Yes, Wednesday was a busy day.

If you somehow missed it, the word of the week is exponential. It’s a strong message in every major session I’ve attended — and for good reason. Thinking, development, change — we all know the basics of moving forward, but it’s adding exponential in front that will make the difference in your ability to disrupt yourselves, your markets, and your competitors. The exponential component is really what’s required to advance and succeed in the digital age. It’s simple math, really.

The Art of Ambassador Programs: 5 tips from a geek

Cisco Nexus 9516 SwitchAll right I confess I’m not that kind of geek. I admire and work with many IT engineers, but if you need me to configure a Nexus switch you’ll be out of luck. I am a geek though, and I know about building successful B2B and B2C Ambassador Programs.

Before I start sharing my 2 cents, let’s take a look at what I mean by Ambassador Programs. Below are three major types. This is a simplified scenario but these large buckets help clarify.

Ambassador Program Types

1. Cast of Thousands: this type of program focuses on amplifying large volumes of content externally. Membership is open to anyone who registers, and includes automated content delivery, gamification, and tracking, where participants are rewarded for their actions in real time. Actions include low-hurdle social media tasks like sharing existing content to social media networks, rating a product, or entering a contest, but can also offer more challenging projects like writing a review, helping users solve problems, and communicating with potential customers. Ideally, ambassadors’ actions are integrated with a CRM platform in order to track ROI. Top participants are identified and nurtured, and in some cases transitioned into the second type of program (below). Read More »

Mobile-Cloud Accelerates the Pace of Change: Blog by Padmasree Warrior

Do you find yourself wondering what are the possibilities that mobile cloud brings to the business world and how can we use what we already know to realize them?

In part one of a riveting new blog series, Cisco Chief Technology & Strategy Officer Padmasree Warrior answers these questions and dives even deeper into the growth of mobile cloud and how businesses in any vertical stand to benefit.

The Growth of Mobile Cloud

The growth of mobile cloud will be a major force in shaping the business landscape and future tech decisions. Already, mobile cloud has been a huge factor in the momentum behind the progress of the Internet of Everything. The dissemination of “Big Data” across an exploding number of mobile devices (more than 10 billion mobile-ready devices in play by 2018) is just one example.

For a visual perspective and numbers-rich look at why the Internet of Everything has the potential to grow corporate profits by more than 20% by 2022, take a look at the Pace of Change SlideShare.

The wearables industry which is estimated to grow into a $70 billion market over the next decade, is taking advantage of our need to connect on the go. An increase in wearables on the market is a direct result of mobile cloud technology. In a recent blog, Joseph Bradley discusses real-world examples of how mobile cloud is making for a healthier society.  You can also see wearable healthcare technology in action on Cisco’s healthcare and mobility SlideShare.

The collaborative economy is also another booming market built on mobile, cloud, and collaboration tools. Jeremy Owyang outlines in a SlideShare the fast growing numbers of solutions provided by start-ups and corporate organizations across multiple industry segments. Cisco is embracing this movement of crowd sourcing and sharing with inititiatives such as Cisco Customer Connection as noted recently by Forrester Charlie Dai’s blog.
