Delivering a More Efficient and Effective Telepresence Experience With TC6.1

Recently at Enterprise Connect 2013, Tony Intrabartolo, Managing Engineer, Cisco TelePresence and Collaboration, and Richard Hayes, Technical Marketing Manager, Collaboration Endpoints, teamed up to discuss the Cisco TelePresence TC 6.1 software update.

TC 6.1 adds the entire portfolio of capabilities announced in the TE 6.0 software update to the C, SX, MX and Profile Series. These features include message waiting indicator, shared line support, single number reach and enhanced conferencing, which are enabled by the Cisco Unified Call Manager 8.6.2 release. This means Cisco TelePresence users will have a consistent experience and access to a broader set of capabilities, including all features in CUCM, across the entire Cisco TelePresence product line, from multipurpose to personal units.

Personal Telepresence Expands Capabilities with Cisco Unified Communications Integration

There are a lot of things possible with just a touch of a finger, including video collaboration, thanks to the Cisco TelePresence EX Series. Since its inception, this family of personal telepresence solutions for the desktop has enabled employees to instantly collaborate face-to-face, whether separated by a hallway, a street, or several time zones. Now, tighter integration with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) brings rich telephony features to the popular EX Series for a powerful voice and video solution.

The EX Series is simple to deploy and creates an in-person experience right from your desktop, so that you can enable faster decision making, enhance relationships and improve efficiency. It also seamlessly integrates with CUCM so you can more easily collaborate, for example receive and retrieve voicemail on your EX system, or receive telepresence calls on your mobile phone and then transfer the call to the EX once you return to the office. Get the Most from Telepresence with Cisco Unified Call Control

Ensuring seamless, secure connections over telepresence and video, Cisco Unified Call Control offers a scalable and pervasive collaboration solution. It includes the following:

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), which delivers key aspects of core call control; and,
  • Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) Expressway, which enables advanced telepresence applications such as secure B2B communication, remote access and firewall traversal capabilities;

Telephony Integration on EX Series Cisco TelePresence Systems

At InfoComm 2012 product manager Darrick Deel discussed the exciting new features of the TE 6.0 Software release for the EX Series which resulted from tighter integration with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).

In this video, Darrick demos new voicemail capabilities and shared line enhancements that enable users to receive telepresence calls on their mobile devices and then transfer the call to the EX console once they return to the office. These new capabilities of TE 6.0 improve Cisco’s TelePresence portfolio and provide greater support to the mobile worker.

CUCM and Cisco Unity Connection listed on DoD UCAPL!

The Global Certification Team (GCT) is pleased to announce the DoD UCAPL approval of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)!  The CUCM was listed on Release (Rel) 8.6 as a Local Session Controller (LSC) with Tracking number (TN) 1108301.
