Cisco Sponsors Regeneration Roadmap Webcast: How Can Business Provide Leadership for Sustainable Development

Join us tomorrow, as Cisco sponsors the launch of Changing Tack, the final report of the Regeneration Roadmap, via global webcast from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. PDT (11 a.m. EDT/4 p.m. London)

The Regeneration Roadmap is a collaborative, joint initiative by GlobeScan and SustainAbility designed to advance sustainable development.  What is “sustainable development?” It is defined by a United Nations commission as development that “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” In business, this equates to people and production practices that are good for society and the environment, as well as the bottom line.

The aim of the Regeneration Roadmap is  to provide a roadmap for achieving sustainable development within the next generation, focusing in particular on ways the private sector can improve sustainability strategy, increase credibility and deliver results at greater speed and scale.

The Changing Tack report released today holds that choices made on sustainable development now will shape success or failure in future. It also demands that business leaders commit to doing more to guarantee that present and future societies and ecosystems thrive.

Evolution of Virtualized Routing

Hello, and welcome to my blog. As a new member of the Enterprise Networking’s Solutions Marketing team, I’ll be writing about connectivity to the cloud, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and virtualized routing. You can expect to learn details around Cisco’s architecture and product offerings in these topics. Further, based on your comments, I can go into as much detail as necessary.

I may also learn to like the Warriors and Niners, but I will always be a Celtics and Patriots fan. Read More »

Cisco Employee Receives Prestigious Governmental Award for Work on Project Samudaya

In November 2012, Cisco Bangalore-based employee Aravind Sitaraman (President – Inclusive Growth) received the prestigious Rajyotsava award for his leadership of Cisco’s Project Samudaya, which helped rebuild 5 villages in the Indian state of Karnataka after catastrophic flooding in 2009. This honor is the highest conferred to civilians by Karnataka’s state government. The award reflects Sitaraman’s deep personal commitment to the well-being of communities in India, as well as his strong alignment with Cisco’s unique method of sincere yet strategic social investment.

Cisco’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts are defined by a simple equation: you + networks = impact multiplied. When the right person meets the right technology, it’s easy to do the math. Indeed, many of Cisco’s CSR efforts begin with grassroots enthusiasm like Aravind’s, which, when combined with Cisco solutions and best practices, can yield an outcome like Project Samudaya: an employee’s authentic, locally attuned passion for change is exponentially multiplied by the company’s resources and expertise.

International Woman’s Day: A Celebration for ALL Women

On 8 March, thousands of International Women’s Day events have been planned throughout the world. The focus of the day generally expresses respect for ,and appreciation towards women who have achieved greatness on the public stage. More often than not it is to acknowledge their accomplishments in economics, political and social change.

I’d like to take a moment today to thank several remarkable women colleagues that I work with every day who move the ball forward, inch by inch, to make sure that the impact of our efforts to improve the world do not go unseen.
