Mobile Public Safety: Connections on the Job

Public safety agencies continually strive to improve their effectiveness and responsiveness to incidents in their jurisdictions. With increased attention on homeland security programs, these agencies demand better interdepartmental and interagency communications with important personnel, including police officers and first responders in the field.

Mobile applications supporting police, fire, and medical response units have transitioned from simple text and voice to rich multimedia applications. Real-time video, maps with satellite imagery, Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking, and global database searches are now available in handheld devices that first responders carry with them in the field. In today’s technological sphere, public safety agencies are leveraging these new capabilities and extending their existing applications in order to enhance the efficiency and delivery of high-quality services. Courts Excellence in a Changing World: Highlights from Day 2

02The second day of the Courts Excellence in a Changing World conference was even better than the first with a number of best practices demonstrating court excellence. Many of these best practices involve technology innovations that provide the foundation for transformation.

The best practices shared provided the courts capabilities for 24x7 citizen services, reduced costs, increased transparency, access from anywhere at anytime, increased citizen satisfaction, and more.

Courts Excellence in a Changing World: Highlights from Day 1

IACA DubaiI am fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the Courts Excellence in a Changing World conference in Dubai, UAE this week.  Hosted by the International Association for Court Administration (IACA) in association with the Dubai Courts and the DIFC Courts as host judiciary.

This event in Dubai is the first of its kind in the Middle East region and the sixth International Conference to be held by IACA and the largest so far with representation from over 50 countries around the world.

The agenda’s theme is  “Court Excellence in a Changing World” with leaders from judicial organizations from the Middle East and all over the world attending to share, and gain knowledge about best practices, latest strategies for change and successful examples of court efficiency.

Florida Shines with Connected Justice

The verdict is in. The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida’s innovative interpretation services are revolutionizing the legal system throughout the Sunshine State.

On a public sector roundtable today at Cisco Live!, the Ninth Circuit’s Trial Court Administrator Matt Benefiel shared insights on the Florida court system and the challenges the state faced in providing equal services to its culturally and demographically diverse communities.

With citizens speaking English, Spanish, Creole, Mandarin, Russian, Vietnamese and a number of other languages, including those who communicate through American Sign Language (ASL), the state of Florida was spending millions of dollars each year on court interpretation services. Read More »
