What makes telework so successful for Cisco and its employees? For me the answer is simple and powerful: video.
Join Cisco at Hannover Messe Faire
Internet of Things is a hot topic this year, and the HANNOVER MESSE 2013 show is no exception. This year’s theme, “Integrated Industry” focuses on the growing integration of all areas of industry: “Machines, industrial equipment, work pieces and system components will soon be capable of exchanging data in real-time.”
Join Cisco at Hannover Messe 2013 !! Our booth is located in Hall 8, Stand D14. At last year’s Hannover Show Cisco launched The Connected Industry Group (CIG) and this year we will showcase how our Cisco Industrial Smart Solution’s end-to end architecture, and ruggedized product portfolio enables the “Integrated Industry” by delivering value throughout the entire manufacturing value chain.
Our industrial hardware will be on static display allowing customers to “touch and feel” all models of the Industrial Ethernet portfolio: IE3000, IE2000, IE3010, C819, AIR1552, ESR5915, ESR5940, 819 M2M router. We will showcase how Power over Ethernet (PoE) for our IE 2k/3k switches and Network Address Translation for our IE2K switch will help drive the Internet of Things (IoT) in industrial applications.
This blog is first in a series of blogs glimpsing into the future of video collaboration. The second blog in the series is “Video Collaboration: On Every Pane of Glass“. We encourage you to follow the series and let us know your thoughts.
To say that video is changing the way we communicate and collaborate would be the understatement of the decade. In their current form, today’s video communication and collaboration tools not only improve interaction and help to foster better relationships between participants, but they provide non-verbal communication cues that already add significant value to those interactions. They help to better gauge the level of interest, engagement and overall sentiment of those participating, and that is useful and cool.
But video collaboration can deliver more than that. We think that with the explosion of video-enabled mobile devices, the availability of cloud platforms and applications, and the intelligence of the network we can add context, content, scale and make video even easier to use. In short, we believe that video collaboration can be made available on every pane of glass, that video can be as easy or easier than voice is today, and — most importantly — for many use cases, video collaboration can actually be better than being there. Some of these capabilities are available now and others in the near future. Let me share a glimpse of what video can do for you. Let’s start by exploring how video collaboration can be better than being there. Read More »
In my last blog I talked about the importance of building your personal brand using your WebEx Social Profile and Expertise Tags. Today I’m going to explain how your Profile and Expertise Tags can play a greater role in crowd sourcing.
When I think about IT security, I don’t immediately start thinking about threats, hackers and countermeasures, but begin with what is happening to IT in general. Right now, the three big megatrends in IT can be summed up in three words: virtualization, collaboration, and mobility. Unfortunately, it’s become something of a Newtonian principle that any action driving information technology forward generates an equal or greater counteraction by hackers to corrupt and exploit the new technology. I also find it disconcerting that at any given time, the most aggressively marketed “solutions” to IT security problems represent a trailing indicator of what cyber criminals are actually doing to raise hell.
