Within the next five years, more than 1 million armed forces personnel are expected to transition from U.S. military to civilian life. As our veterans return from deployments such as Iraq and Afghanistan, many of them will need new jobs to support their families – and additional training to get those jobs.
Unfortunately, our veterans typically experience higher unemployment rates than the national average and sometimes have difficulty matching their skills and training with jobs in the private sector. That’s why Cisco established a corporate veterans program in 2011 to support veterans and their spouses. We provide funding, training, technical expertise and technology to help them through what can be a difficult transition period. Read More »

Today, I had the opportunity to speak with students of the Cisco Networking Academy. These students were selected to run the network at Cisco Live this year and run the Cisco Network Operations Center (NOC).
An innovative information and communications technology (ICT) education program, the Cisco Networking Academy provides a million students worldwide with the skills needed to design, build, manage and secure computer networks. This educations provides a pathway to ICT jobs, further education and globally-recognized industry certifications.
I’m very proud to say that many of the Networking Academy students are veterans. In fact, the Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia trains over 2,600 soldiers annually in its Networking Academy program. Read More »

If you’re at CiscoLive Orlando, and you didn’t catch the Mobility Guides Part 1 and Part 2, you’re going to want two things: have the Cisco Ent Networks app downloaded onto your smartphone or tablet an you’re going to want to find the Enterprise Networks booth. As of Cisco Live! London there has been a new module to the applet just for mobility items!
For the booth, we’re in the back, dead center. For the Ent Networks App, use your magic QR code reader and scan the code to the right. Should work on most Android and iDevices.
That, and don’t forget to go to Rob Soderbery’s keynote! Seriously--DO NOT MISS THIS.
Your Enterprise Network: Getting You Where You Want to Go
Is your enterprise network ready to take you where you want to go? Will it support the business applications that you are being asked to support? In this keynote, you will hear how Cisco is unifying access, building out new network services and making the network more manageable so you can meet the coming needs of your organization. We will also show you how you can support more aspects of your business using the network as a platform for the Internet of Things.
