It’s that time of year again! We’ll be celebrating 25 years of Cisco Live! in the our namesake city San Francisco this week in SOMA. Here’re the top 5 things for #Wireless folks to be on the lookout for:
1. World of Solutions: The WoS opens with a welcome reception at 5pm on Monday. We’re showing off our 802.11ac portfolio and latest location-based solutions in the World of Solutions. Look for us in the Enterprise Networks booth!
2. DevNet Zone: First of its kind Cisco-led developer conference in Moscone West during CiscoLive! SF. Swing by to find out about the latest Cisco API’s and SDK’s through hands-on learning labs and special developer-focused speaking sessions.
Highlight: 24 hour hackathon featuring the Mobility Services API.

You know you’ve been through this and you’ve probably also been behind someone trying to get across 2 lanes to capture a spot and causing mayhem. It’s estimated that 30% of all traffic congestion in urban areas is caused by drivers circling and struggling to find a parking spot. With cities growing at an estimated 10,000 people per hour, the situation isn’t going to get any better unless we make some changes.
Solving the parking madness
Cities–perhaps yours–can now implement a new Internet of Everything solution — Cisco Smart+Connected City Parking — to help alleviate many of their parking (and resulting traffic) headaches. The solution not only serves spot-seeking drivers, but can also support traffic enforcement officers to locate violations more easily, generate more revenue from citations, and reduce vandalism and other safety issues via video surveillance. Have you ever wanted to go to the cisco.com home page and see what John Chambers is saying right at that moment?
Well, you’ve probably never had that exact wish, but that’s what we’ll be offering home page visitors starting on Monday, May 19th. During the Cisco Live week May 19 – 22, visitors to the cisco.com home page will be able to see a live broadcast of Cisco Live events direct from San Francisco.
We’ll turn on the video feed Monday afternoon just before John Chambers’ keynote, and will continue to broadcast all Cisco Live events through Thursday afternoon as they occur.

This is the first time we’re showing a live video feed on our home page. We will be syncing up our publishing updates with the Cisco Live event schedule, so that the video player is available when the keynotes are live. This means we will be publishing the home page 10 times during the event, making for a busy week for my team back at the San Jose HQ.
Cisco.com is Form Factor Friendly
Our home page uses a “web responsive design” approach, which means it adapts its layout according to the user’s viewing environment. This allows us to provide an optimal user experience to users on desktops, tablets and mobile devices. All visitors will need to click the “Play” icon in order to start the video, and the video player detects connection speed and display the appropriate video stream for the user.
