Tweetchat with Cisco: Cloud Strategy Readiness and Economics

May 10, 2012 at 1:15 pm PST

Interop, Citrix Synergy, SAPPHIRE, EMC World .. May is definitely the month of the conferences . What are the common buzzwords for all these shows ? Cloud, Virtualization, Networking.

No surprise :  Enterprises, service providers, small businesses, and governments are looking for cloud solutions to solve some of their biggest business and technology challenges.
A solution to these challenges requires an approach that fully integrates the three pillars of cloud: cloud applications and services, data centers, and networks.

Cisco enables a world of many clouds  by connecting people and organizations within a cloud, between clouds, and beyond the clouds to the end user.

If you attended or plan to attend these shows,  you had or will have the opportunity to listen to Cisco experts and Cisco partners.

But here is an additional opportunity

Pat Adamiak, Senior Director of Cloud Solutions Marketing at Cisco Systems, will be available tomorrow Friday , May 11 from 9 – 10 a.m. PT to discuss trends and opportunities around cloud strategy readiness and economics during an unique Tweetchat *

In this role, Pat has global responsibility for marketing Cisco’s overall cloud solution portfolio, with a particular focus on telecommunications, cable, and media service providers. Pat played a core leadership role in the development and launch of Cisco’s overall CloudVerse strategic framework and offerings and is a frequent spokesperson on cloud.

So join the conversation with @PatAdamiak  on Twitter using the #CiscoCloud hashtag,

Wrapping Up Cloud Carrier Forum 2012

Greetings from (very) sunny Las Vegas! I am here at the second annual Cloud Carrier Forum (CCF), and this year’s edition really upped the bar for the type of critical and actionable discussions taking place around cloud computing.

We just wrapped up a lively panel discussion on cloud services, and one of the topics that kept popping up was how service providers can best bring their cloud services to market. This actually fits very closely with the theme of my keynote session from this morning, which was titled “Delivering Services in a World of Many Clouds.” You can view the presentation slides below.

As CCF 2012 draws to a close, I want to pause for a moment and try to tie all of today’s information together. I’ll begin with the main concept of my keynote: A World of Many Clouds. Cisco believes Read More »

Fresh Video from the Interop Show Floor in VEGAS!

May 9, 2012 at 5:20 am PST

Chattin with Prashanth at Interop Vegas

Having a lot of fun this year at Interop 2012. We are shooting and editing in a much tighter workflow so that we can publish these things same day and thank gosh!  The stories are numerous and oh so timely.   Follow along as I attempt to recap our first full day on the show floor.

Meet PAM

Jim Frey recently wrote a white paper called Closing the Loop for Effective Network Operations Management and he stopped by to chat about some of the key points made.

As he describes it: Cisco has developed and introduced Prime Assurance Manager with one essential goal in mind – to provide end-to-end operational monitoring visibility, spanning data center to and through the branch, as a means for facilitating efficient operations and proactively protecting network-delivered applications and network availability, network performance, application performance, and end user experience data across both wired and wireless environments, coupled with troubleshooting and reporting features.

Jim is going to be going even deeper with an hour long seminar on May 15.

My First Cloud

Yair Dolev was our guest for the topic of ‘Intelligent Automation for the Cloud’ now in a cool starter Edition!

Cisco’s New Online Calculator Helps Size Private-Cloud Benefits

While organization leaders recognize cloud’s ability to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), they often have difficulty evaluating the many other business benefits of cloud. Often this process is based on some combination of gut instinct and hard data. But the more quantifiable the data, the easier the decision; and the more the potential benefits can be sized, the clearer the opportunity. Since the process of embracing the cloud may be done in increments or by degrees, decision makers will want to weigh which aspects of their operation should be migrated to the cloud—or clouds—and what return on investment to expect from the decision.

The Cloud Networking Landscape – Survey Results From over 1300 Networkers [INFOGRAPHIC]

The 2012 Cisco Global Cloud Networking Survey, which includes participants from more than 1,300 IT decision makers in 13 countries, was commissioned to measure the adoption of cloud services by IT professionals globally, while examining potential challenges to their cloud migrations.  Below, we take a deeper look at some of the positive, negative, and strange aspects to come out of the survey.

On the positive side, 73% of respondents felt they have enough information to begin their private or public cloud deployments. This leaves 27% who claim to feel more knowledgeable about how to play Angry Birds than the steps needed to migrate their company to the cloud. While Angry Birds is a fun game to play, this wan’t the strangest result from this research. Read More »
