When police chiefs from around the world and other international community policing leaders come together with technology, you get innovative solutions that make the world a safer place. The Annual International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference and Law Enforcement Education and Technology Exposition (IACP) does just that. It showcases technology and brings together global leadership in community policing and public safety to share information and experiences and to work together to find innovative solutions to issues facing law enforcement of today.

Education Turns to Desktop Virtualization for Increased Collaboration

October 2, 2012 at 8:54 am PST

Of course, we at Cisco are aware of how desktop virtualization benefits organizations. However, we also know that it isn’t just about desktop-only virtualization. This is why we created Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) to not only deliver desktop virtualization but also provide secure access to data, voice and video for fixed and mobile devices.

I recently read several success stories of educational institutions who turned to Cisco VXI and Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) to help reduce costs and IT management overhead while increasing internal and external collaboration. Two of these case studies -- one from K-12 and one higher education -- are listed below. If you are interested in the topic, they are definitely worth the read. Read More »

Master Cloud Builder Specialization–Helping Partners Evolve

You’ve often heard me say that Cisco partners need to continue to evolve their businesses to stay competitive and be successful. As the trend for delivering technology as a service continues, now more than ever partners must evolve their business to support the demand for new consumption models, like cloud and managed services.  And in order to support our partner’s evolution, Cisco is evolving our Partner Program with the availability of the new Master Cloud Builder Specialization.

As I announced at Partner Summit back in April, this new specialization brings together the data center architecture specialization, Cloud Builder designation and adds competencies to deliver solutions like Vblock, Flexpod, and VXI.  Think of the new Master Cloud Builder specialization as the customer’s “one-stop shop” for the highest level of competencies for data center and cloud.

No matter which analyst report you read, the market opportunity for both private and public cloud infrastructure will be billions of dollars over the next several years. The Master Cloud Builder Specialization allows partners to differentiate even further to help capture a greater share of the rapidly growing cloud market.

Partners have a choice in the role they want to play in cloud (Builder, Provider, Reseller) and the level of investment they want to make. Cisco is committed to continuing to invest in the success of our partners, to help you optimize your business value and see the greatest return on your investment in Cisco.

Along with the availability of the new master specialization, Cisco is launching the Cisco Cloud Partner Marketplace. Created based on your feedback, this tool gives partners a place to market and promote their Cisco cloud-based solutions and services.

I encourage you to learn more about the new Master Cloud Builder Specialization and the Cisco Cloud Partner Marketplace and I look forward to our continued journey together in this ever-changing marketplace.

Find out what some of our partners had to say about the Master Cloud Builder Specialization.

To Mobility! And BEYOND!!!

It’s been over ten years since my last visit to the beautiful city of Washington D.C.  It’s always great to visit all my favorite monuments and historical landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.   I wish I could tell you more about my wonderful dinners at the Old Ebbitt Grill or Brassaire Beck; but onto more important things.

As I walk through downtown, looking around, I was thinking to myself, how much things have changed since my last visit.  Gone are the days of disposable cameras, brochures and maps  -- everyone around me is using a smart phone to take photos, launching Google maps to find the Smithsonian, or  scanning QR codes at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum  to view additional factoids as they were walking about the museum.  Everything is going mobile!

I’m here this week to attend the 12th semi-annual Telework Exchange Fall Town Hall meeting – “Mobility in the Fast Lane” focused on mobile IT and the mobile workforce.  While I was here, my colleagues and I had the utmost pleasure to interview 9 government and industry leaders discussing topics such as security, standards, technologies and telework benefits and challenges within their agencies.  It was fascinating to hear from these leaders how they are working in different ways to transform their agencies to better serve the American people,  grow their workforce and create  a balanced work-life environment for their employees.
