I was over in Cisco’s building 32 the other day and was about to meet with the collaboration team when I saw something that looked a lot like Facebook running on a Cius and an iPhone. As I went over to explore, I met Raghurama Bhat and Ashish Chirputkar, the two ‘humble’ engineers who created Cisco Quad, our enterprise social collaboration platform.
I started wondering how Bhat and Chirputkar had the time to develop Quad, how internal development began, and why a Facebook,Twitter or LinkedIn for the enterprise makes sense. So with my HD video camera already in hand, I recorded this interesting feature interview. These two engineers and their team had a huge impact on how work is now done at Cisco where over 70,000 employees live their days in Quad to get their work done and collaborate.

This week at Microsoft TechEd, NetApp and Cisco announced our joint Microsoft Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track submission. The submission was the result of a great working partnership between NetApp and Cisco. We’re very pleased with the solutions and technical expertise that the Cisco team brought to the project. Because of our strong partnership, Cisco and NetApp have been able to produce a great Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track solution.
Here’s an example, because both NetApp and Cisco have both been investing in our Microsoft management integration platforms and we have been able to integrate these features into our submission to Fast Track. Both Cisco and NetApp have been working closely with the Microsoft Opalis Integration Server team and we were able to combine our solutions into a single solution that enables rapid provisioning from a bare metal blade to a full running Windows Cluster and then VM provisioning against that cluster. You can see a demonstration of this solution here:

Cisco is very pleased to announce that Microsoft has invited us to be part of their Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track program. This is great news for our customers and partners as it will allow for Cisco UCS based server infrastructures for Windows Server 2008 R2 based private cloud deployments.
I just returned from a great week of EMC World in Vegas. The fine folks at EMC make crazy good technology and they can throw one heck of a party…I mean conference. The week was full of interesting people, big ideas, big data and of course the cloud.
My parents give me advice all the time, typically without me asking for it. I genuinely appreciate their concern for my problems, but most of the time I feel like they don’t understand what I’m going through. So, I reach out to a friend, because they are a peer, and they get where I’m coming from. Same goes for technology purchase decisions—it’s great to get advice from IT experts, but sometimes the message hits home best when you hear it from another small business. Thus, I present to you a customer story of why a small business went with a hosted voice over IP solution.
