Spotlight on Cloud Connectors

April 25, 2013 at 1:14 pm PST

Its interesting to note how much ‘cloud’ has crept into many of our personal lives already. Dropbox, iTunes, Amazon and many other services (plus so many apps) that are leveraging this kind of infrastructure and we often don’t think about it. Frankly, we don’t often care!

Making this work in our multi-location offices with business critical functions and security at stake is of course a different matter. Cisco has been doing some interesting work with something called ‘Cloud Connetors.’ The general idea is to make it really simple for the applications and the network to become more mutually aware of each other. How they can work better together.

We just released ‘Spotlight on Cloud Connectors.’ Watch and see how these things can simplify everything from centralized back up to identity and access management. We cover a numbe of differnt examples.

A new wave of Cisco Cloud Connectors Further Accelerates Adoption of Cloud Services

In my previous blog I introduced the concept of Cisco Cloud Connectors, which help enhance cloud services for customers and partners, and listed the latest Cisco Cloud Connectors.

Today I am excited to share the next round of Cisco Cloud Connectors developed with third-parties and just announced at Cisco Live London! These Cisco Cloud Connectors expand further into a broad set of cloud-based applications and were developed by a growing list of third party partners. Live from Cisco Live!

This blog is live from the floor of Cisco Live in London. The highlight for me this year in London has been the introduction, with our partners Ping Identity, of the Identity Cloud Connector, built on onePK, as part of the Cisco Cloud Connectors family of solutions. I’ll go into that in more detail below, but first some other highlights.

Yesterday we delivered a full day workshop on network automation, including EEM and introductions to onePK. Bruno Klauser, Joe Clarke, Jason Pfeifer, with me in a supporting role, helped  29 attendees through a series of exercises to help them get the most out of the extensive automation features on our platforms. The attendees must have liked it, as the score was 4.61/5. Well done guys!

The buzz here in the World of Solutions (WoS) is great. We have onePK demonstrations in the Data Centre and Borderless Network architecture zones, and we have been talking to customers and partners non-stop, all day. The Open Network Environment (ONE) strategy has really gripped people’s imagination, and it has been very exciting, and fun, to engage in some serious conversations about what ONE can do for our customers’ businesses. Networking Field Day 4 at Cisco! #NFD4

This morning we have a very special treat – Networking Field Day 4 is stopping by Cisco!

Last night I got to meet a bunch of the delegates (fancy name for bloggers) and am pretty excited as they’re a great group of Field Day veterans and new folks.  I think the lineup of talks will be fun for them, and I’m hoping we’ll get a good, solid discussion going.  Plus, one of the delegates has agreed to wear a kilt.
