#EngineersUnplugged Going Rogue At #CLEUR

At CiscoLive Milan this year, we’re going to be doing something a little different with Engineers Unplugged.

Traditionally, Engineers Unplugged has been this awesome video series featuring two speakers, a whiteboard, and great Data Center discussions. It also included drawing a unicorn. This year, we’re opening it up to topics including branch routers, campus switching, mobility, and (potentially) some IoT folks. Basically, we’ll cover everything in Data Center, Mobility (including Meraki… oh yeah!), Enterprise Networks, and Internet of Things for those of you who follow our naming silos.

What this means for you: If you’re going to CiscoLive Milan, you should sign up to join in on the Engineers Unplugged fun. Or, let me know about pairings you’d like to see. Read More »

My Cisco Live Milan IPv6 Firsts

That is it, Cisco Live Milan is over! The “before” of anticipation, seemingly a moment ago, is replaced by the “after” of takeaways and accomplishments for the week. Some passed their CCIE certification, some met a new business partner, but it’s likely that everyone learned something new. I am not an exception.

During the week, I presented at two different technical breakout sessions (BRKRST-2304 – Hitchhiker’s Guide to Troubleshooting IPv6 and BRKEWN-2666 – IPv6 on WiFi: You talk too much! NOT anymore) and spent my remaining time working with everyone in the Network Operations Center (NOC) to ensure that IPv6 is a smooth ride for all of the 9,000+ devices on the network. Not only did I learn a lot, but this year at Cisco Live Milan was a year of “firsts” for me.

  • For starters, it was the first time I shared details about my experience with large-scale IPv6 WiFi setups with Cisco Live attendees in the form of a breakout session. After talking with attendees, my main takeaway – Read More »

Get Inspired by Cisco Live Europe 2014

Cisco Live Europe 2014 (Milan) just ended and I think I will need a few days to reorganize my ideas. It was my first opportunity to attend #CLEUR, and moreover I did it as a CCIE.

CLEUR is not just a Cisco event (or should I say THE Cisco event) but also a unique opportunity to experience technology, expertise, vision, and inspiration.  And of course meet friends. Read More »

CMX Analytics: An Inside Scoop on CiscoLive! Milan #CLEUR

cmxclmilan1

Today is the final day of a very busy and successful Cisco Live Milan 2014. Read my initial observations from the event earlier this week.

As the event draws to a close, lets look at some of the location analytics available via Cisco’s Connected Mobile Experiences solution (CMX) and perhaps try to answer some of the following questions about the event.

For this I will just focus on the World of Solutions Show floor – approximately 800,000 sq feet in size, and containing all the Cisco Booths and the partner displays.

  1. How many people actually visited the world of solutions?
  2. How many people did  the different Cisco Booths attract?
  3. Where was the busiest part of the show floor?

These and other insights can be derived from looking at the business intelligence that emerges from CMX. Read More »
