Those of you who have been to Cisco Live know what an incredible, near-overwhelming experience it is. Cisco Live is such a big event that there’s simply too much going on for any one person to take it all in. Against such a busy backdrop it can be hard for a product family to stand out, and yet that’s exactly what Customer Collaboration accomplished at this year’s show.
Customer Collaboration enjoyed prime real estate in the main Cisco booth at the World of Solutions, where we showcased core customer care products like Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise and Express, along with innovative offerings such as Cisco Finesse (our Web 2.0 agent workspace), Cisco SocialMiner (delivering proactive, social media customer care), and Cisco MediaSense (our network-based recording platform). A common reaction Read More »

If you missed Cisco Live earlier this month or if you didn’t get a chance to see our Intelligent Automation demos and attend our sessions, you will want to read this blog!
It was the busiest event of the year for Cisco’s Unified Data Center and Unified Management team, with over a dozen breakout sessions and several theater presentations featuring our management software, as well as a call-out in the CTO keynote. Our experts, customers, and partners were actively talking about and demoing our software throughout Cisco Live.
One of our popular demos at the show used Hadoop and Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler to extract data from Twitter with social media activity at the event. This app runs a Hadoop MapReduce job every 5 minutes to track Cisco Live tweets, showcasing workload automation and big data. Check it out here.
The Intelligent Automation for Cloud Starter Edition was another hot demo at the event, with lots of interest from IT departments that want to get started quickly with a private cloud running on Cisco UCS. Check out the recorded demo here and the theater presentation here.
For more Cisco Live highlights, here are some videos featuring some of the Intelligent Automation team, our partners, and customers:

From the IT Executive Symposium at Cisco Live 2012
We all dream of inventing the next breakthrough product, or creating the next company that no one can live without. The truth, however, is that innovation rarely occurs that way. Innovation isn’t just about invention—it’s about creating value. And it isn’t just important—it’s critical to a company’s growth and success.
Every few decades, something truly innovative occurs—a transformative development with global impact. The human species has pulled away from the rest of the animal kingdom predominantly because of our ability to communicate and collaborate. Every time we make a major improvement in the communication/collaboration arena, innovation accelerates at an exponential rate, and humankind moves forward dramatically. The printing press moved us from spoken transmission taking months, to printed materials that could reach the masses in weeks. The telephone gave us instant communication over any distance. The Internet moved us from paper to electronic processes. And today, we are on the cusp of the next truly transformative innovation: the cloud. Read More »

Last week we wrapped up the US version of Cisco Live in San Diego, California. Of all the events Cisco hosts worldwide, Cisco Live is potentially the most anticipated among our customers, partners, and staff alike. It’s truly amazing to have 17,000 users all in one place and it gives me an exceptional opportunity to hear firsthand about your concerns, interests, and strategies.
I heard two themes from you last week. From Read More »

Last week, Cisco Live in San Diego served as the perfect backdrop for showcasing the pace of innovation. We’ve come quite a long way from the Cisco Live of the ‘90s--those ancestral brick cell phones and clunky PC workstations! This year, people were using their phones to record videos, share pictures, check email, and send out quick tweets as they walked around. Proof positive that mobile internet connectivity has allowed us to better integrate the different roles we play in our everyday lives and to be more productive. No matter where I was, Cisco Jabber kept me connected to my colleagues and team who couldn’t be there. But just because they weren’t there with me, doesn’t mean they couldn’t experience Cisco Live. In fact, they could remotely access all of the goings-on from any device with internet connectivity.
We are in a decade where flexibility seems to be the mantra and innovation the expectation. Elastic mobile architectures, as enabled by the recently released ASR 5500 mobile internet platform, showcase flexibility being built from the ground up. And flexibility is most obvious in our choice of consumer devices and the ability to work our way as enabled by the Cisco Unified Workspace. Ultimately, great minds generate growth and innovation. Cisco helps by providing better networking and collaborative tools that free those minds to do their magic. It all adds up to a continuous innovation life cycle.
