Tropo Opens New Revenue Opportunities

As the need for constant connectedness and mobility explodes, it’s becoming increasingly clear the collaboration market is taking off. We’re in a race to transform the way we work and communicate. We’re talking about a $53 billion opportunity, and it’s just beginning.

Building on our March 17 announcement of Cisco Spark, on June 1, we made a huge leap forward with the official acquisition of Tropo, a team that has built one of the world’s leading open communication platforms.

Since then, I’ve been happy to see the analysts and other industry experts embracing this move.

As Zeus Kerravala, founder and principal analyst with ZK Research, put it, “The company’s calling card has been its ability to leverage smaller purchases. It drops the talent and technology into the Cisco machine, and gains a market-leading or sometimes market-defining position from it.” (May 7, 2015, No Jitter)

Zeus is right. Tropo will allow us to define the external platform for Cisco Spark which will transform Spark from a standalone app into something much bigger – like a set of capabilities that a developer could add to other apps.  But as partners, you’re probably wondering how Tropo fits into our overall strategy and what it means for you.  Read More »

Cisco Partner Weekly Rewind – June 12, 2015

Partner-Weekly-Rewind-v2

Each week, we’ll highlight the most important Cisco Partner Ecosystem news and stories, as well as point you to important, Cisco-related partner content you may have missed along the way. Here’s what you might have missed this week:

Off the Top

I have had a great time in San Diego this week for Cisco Live US. I kicked off this week with a look at the Solution Partner Forum from Sunday. I also pointed out a dew of the things to look for throughout the week. I hope that helped you plan your week here in San Diego or at least follow along more easily from afar.

On Tuesday, Al Jacobellis gave you some insight on just how the security announcement this week affects Cisco Partners. If you did not yet read Al’s blog, be sure to check it out. He does a great job of showing you how our partner incentive programs can help you take advantage in the marketplace.

Edison Peres also had a great post this week on how application developers are completing the Intercloud puzzle here at Cisco. Let us know what you think of Edison’s blog, and join us in welcoming the new partners to Cisco Intercloud.

Finally, Rick Snyder wrapped up Cisco Live with his thoughts on the show and a look at how the Cisco Partner Ecosystem supports these Cisco events.

While I am happy to be home today, I already miss the energy and excitement from Cisco Live. It’s great to meet so many customers and partners who are putting our business outcomes in place every day. Read More »

Our last but not least guest blog on “Why I Love Big Data Partner Series” is up! If you are on your way back home from Cisco Live, this would be a great read for your commute. Rob Rosen from Platfora will take us through how easy it is to uncover previously hidden threats with an integrated big data solution that dynamically analyzes large volumes of disparate security data from Cisco’s security portfolio. Highlights from Cisco Live: Top Insights from Platfora

It was a jam-packed week at Cisco Live and I had the opportunity to dive into the latest developments around big data analytics and security. It’s well known that as IT infrastructure has transferred to virtual cloud-based applications and storage, organizations need visibility and security to keep their assets and data safe. I saw a lot of impressive presentations and I was able to share our own technology in partnership with Cisco.

Highlights from this week’s conference:

  • John Chambers’ keynote: Everyone’s talking about it—and for good reason. As he welcomed the crowd to Cisco Live, Chambers focused on exactly how businesses get disrupted in the digital age. He urged attendees and organizations to not hesitate to scrutinize their IT infrastructure and adopt the new technologies they’d see at the conference.
  •  Collaboration across companies: There was a huge ecosystem of technology companies that partnered with Cisco for a presence at the event. It’s encouraging to see that these tech giants across all industries are collaborating with one another to develop more comprehensive solutions for customers. Cisco’s leading the pack as it models an inclusive approach built on partnerships—which is better for everyone in the long run.
  • Cisco Intercloud announcement: This is a particularly exciting partnership announcement for Platfora. Cisco’s Intercloud Ecosystem could be described as a hybrid “cloud of clouds.” For anyone looking to pull value from their stored data, manage files or do a huge variety of other vital business tasks, this development is huge.

Cisco Partner Ecosystem Supports Cisco Live US

As we close another fantastic Cisco Live week in San Diego, showcasing the latest solution developments from Cisco and our Partners, I can’t help thinking about the amazing journey we’ve experienced with our partners during Cisco’s 30 years.  Today, more than ever before, our ability to collaborate effectively with all partner types to deliver business outcomes to our customers is simply mission critical.

2015-06-09-WoSTour-2271 IntelCisco established itself as a market leader when we helped to build the internet.  Now, what’s tremendously exciting to me is that we’re at the forefront once again – as we drive to digitize everything – via the Internet of Everything (IoE).  Here’s even better news – the Cisco Partner Ecosystem has grown in breadth, depth and connectedness to help Cisco make the Internet of Everything come to life with Cisco.

Cisco Live really brought all of this to life for me – the journey and our collective readiness.  Read More »
