It’s Universal — Collaboration is a Must-Have and It Pays Off

June 15, 2012 at 4:43 pm PST

I just returned from our premier customer event, Cisco Live, where I had the opportunity to spend time with customers from Istanbul, New York, San Jose, Singapore and more. Many of our conversations centered on how collaboration is a must-have, and more importantly, the different ways it pays off.

Journey to Cisco Live San Diego

Recently, I heard a beautiful Beethoven Quartet Opus 131 piece played in an office not too far from mine. Its rhythm was so tranquil that the notes visually sang in my ears and brought up images of Ike sitting behind Cisco WAAS Central Manager listening to classical music on his headphones. (“Who is Ike?” You may ask. On the surface, Ike is your everyday IT guy that wins the girl’s heart in Ike wins with a vendor you can trust.  Behind the scene, Ike is the hero that keeps productivity high and end-user satisfied, all working together, to propel his organization ahead of the competition.)

Learn How to Simplify and Scale Your Video Deployments and Achieve Better User Experience

May 4, 2012 at 7:20 am PST

Medianet integrates a smarter network with smarter endpoints to simplify the deployment and operation of various media and applications, and to enhance the quality of experience. You can find all you need to deploy medianet capabilities in the Medianet Knowledge Base, including a deployment guide which guides you step by step on how to deploy and use medianet capabilities.

But if you want to get your hands dirty and learn by doing we will have a fun lab (both for the student and proctors) in the next Cisco Live in San Diego. The lab is based on real physical equipment (routers, switches, MCUs, video surveillance cameras, etc.), video applications (Jabber for Windows, CP-9971 phones, Video Surveillance, WebEx and Digital Signage) and Network Management. You will  get a chance to see a real working video enabled branch that they control and get an introduction to the many medianet features like performance monitor, mediatrace, IPSLA Video Operations, Auto Smart Ports, QoS, and now Media Services Interface (MSI), Flow Metadata and Media Services Proxy (MSP)!

Ask Our Execs!

For those who were at Cisco Live Melbourne, I hope you had a fantastic time.  I’m a bit bummed that I didn’t go since it would have been awesome to check out some of the street art.  Luckily, Erica did take some pictures to share.

Did you catch our latest Enterprise Video announcement on what we’re doing with physical security in the cloud?  You can read all about it here.

Now on to the next thing we’re planning: Cisco Live San Diego!  The scheduler went live this week and we have some great sessions for you to attend.  Some new ones will be made available soon and I’ll share with you once we get those in the system for registration.

One thing we’re doing again this year is the executive Q&A.  This year we have a great panel of our leaders in Video and Collaboration who will be taking your questions live on Thursday morning, 14 June 2012, from 10:00am to 11:30am.  This is a chance for you to ask questions like “What the heck is medianet?” or “How can I deliver collaboration tools on mobile devices?”.

We’re collecting questions here on this blog, so don’t be shy and ask some below in the comments.  On Thursday morning at Cisco Live San Diego, we’ll present your questions to our executive panelists and they’ll answer them on stage.

Hope to see you in San Diego!
