The Ubiquitous Nature of the Internet of Everything (IoE) drives new Network Requirements

Taru KhuranaCo-written with Taru Khurana, Senior Analyst, SP Thought Leadership

The ubiquitous nature of Internet of Everything (IoE) is driving a digital transformation in many industries and businesses. This digital disruption has already begun and it’s driving advanced cloud access and network performance requirements for a wide range of devices and machine-to machine (M2M) connections. Faster broadband speeds and lower latencies as well as wider network access are essential enablers for the future of IoE that many envision. The growing number of cloud applications that are being developed for a wide variety of business and consumer uses are dramatically changing the demands and expectations of public and private network services.

Consider the connected car. Integrated “infotainment” is a growing feature trend that is being implemented in many types of vehicles. This type of mobile connectivity will create even more reliance on the Internet to bring Read More »

For many of us, precious memories are digitally preserved in the form of pictures and videos. How we store and access our favorite photos, clips, songs and other digital content has evolved from hard disks to USB drives and now on to the cloud. And for those of us who have unfortunately dealt with a hard disk crash on our work or personal computers, we are painfully aware of the importance of data backups. Secure data replication and fast retrieval are essential for business productivity and positive consumer experiences.

New challenges (and opportunities) are on the horizon for data transmission, replication and backup based on the global growth and adoption of IoE applications. As the IoE phenomenon connects things that were previously unconnected, it also leads to Read More »

Driving New Network Programmability Talent Needs

Over the past year, we saw the idea of software-defined networking (SDN) become an integral part of IT conversations globally. As this technology evolves, the term “network programmability” can be used to capture the idea of opening up the network.

The Cisco Global Cloud Index predicts that two-thirds of all workloads will be processed in the cloud by 2017, and more than two-thirds of all data center traffic will come from the cloud. Companies building enterprise private clouds, public clouds and hybrid clouds will need qualified talent to optimize their cloud deployments for maximum efficiency.
