Cisco’s Server Momentum: A Thank-You To Partners

It’s been four years since Cisco officially introduced the Unified Computing System (UCS) and began the challenge of convincing the industry – and the channel – that we were serious about being a server player and serious about making a difference in the data center.

We all heard the naysayers at first, and especially our competitors, saying: “Cisco?  Servers?  What does a networking company know about servers?” We had our work cut out for us.

Today we’re proud to have a number of industry accolades for Cisco’s data center strategy behind UCS, and a continued and growing partnership with a range of channel allies building ecosystem-based solutions around UCS. Just look at how much this community has grown:3,000 partners actively selling UCS Solutions and more than 20,000 end customers. Partners are building software solutions using the UCS developer tools we’ve provided, and major strategic allies like VCE, NetApp and Hitachi are winning in the data center with our combined technology and solutions. Cisco’s New Small Business Portfolio—Helping Partners Unleash the Possibilities of the Network

January 24, 2013 at 8:19 am PST

Our partners know that in today’s environment small and medium-sized businesses need to reduce costs, focus on new markets, and improve sales effectiveness. They can accomplish this by increasing their productivity. And we can help by introducing our partners to Cisco’s new small business portfolio, which helps small business customers tap into the value of the network, while maximizing their investment.

These new products and services allow workers to collaborate securely—whether onsite or mobile. This is especially important as the mobile worker population is expected to reach 1.3 billion by 2015, and 71 percent of small businesses now function as work-from-anywhere businesses (according to IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Worker Population 2011–2015 Forecast).

In addition to security, technologies that are easy to use and manage are critical in this market, where dedicated IT departments typically don’t exist. Implementing technologies that fit within tight budgets are also a must.

In response to these challenges, Cisco introduced a new family of small business technologies, which support the requirements of small businesses looking to gain a competitive advantage—including new security, collaboration, and mobility capabilities. Read More »

What Cisco Partners Need to Know About the New Release of VXI

Cisco partners have told us multiple times that the Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) continues to be the Gold standard for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). We appreciate your input. At the same time, we know there’s more we can do to help you.

So we’re happy to share with you that a new release of VXI comes out today. What does this mean for you?

Let’s have a look first at what’s new, how this meets your customers’ demands, and then how that applies to your business.

First, key to the announcement is an opportunity for partners to now offer Cisco’s collaborative services, enabled by Cisco Jabber. This means customers can select the work style most suited to their needs: mobile, fixed, and now virtual. Cisco Jabber for virtual environments is enabled by Cisco Virtualization Experience Media Engine (VXME), a new software component that delivers high-definition video and voice communications to be integrated as part of a virtual desktop session.

How to Ensure Your Practice is Ready When Opportunity Knocks

October 24, 2012 at 11:53 am PST

There’s nothing worse than the pain of replacing an employee. Or the worry of recruiting new talent to deliver on a time-sensitive project. And it can become downright difficult when the person you need to replace, or add, must possess highly specialized skills.

So what’s your strategy? Panic when your best networking engineer gives his or her notice? Miss an important deadline? Or plan ahead?

I like option No. 3, and I’m sure you do, too. However, I’m guessing running a successful consulting business means your plate is typically full. That said, I’m also guessing recruiting is a challenge, especially when you need someone “yesterday.”

But that’s okay. We have a solution for you. Read More »
