CES 2011: Customer Insight and the Videoscape Experience

A post in ZDNet declared that Cisco has its “top honors” at CES, stating that “Cisco’s vision for Connected TV represents what CES is all about – a revolutionary idea that gets both consumers and the industry excited.”  The team both on and off-site at CES is understandably honored by the distinction but it’s important to note that our service provider partners are just as deserving of the award as they have played an active role help us shape the vision and create what is known today as “Videoscape,.”

While I’ve been dealing mostly with press and analysts, Pankaj Patel, the senior vice president and general manager of the service provider group here at Cisco, has been spending the vast majority of his time with customers, so we tracked him down to get a summary of their reactions.  And, what you’ll find in this brief video is a real sense that Cisco Videoscape brings together for them the ability to deliver rich video experiences, to have expanded opportunities to create new revenue streams and to do it over an architecture that will bring it “all together.” Read More »

What do smart phones, tablet computers, PCs, washers, dryers, TVs, content providers, medical devices and even athletic shoes have in common?

Yes, they will all be taking part in the excitement generated during CES 2011, happening this week in Las Vegas.  But what’s more, the most common denominator among the major breakthroughs and hot products is they all need to be connected to be truly useful.

And not just connected, but easy to use and seamlessly integrated with other aspects of our life.  These expectations are part of our DNA with more and more converting to a connected life.  Increasingly, our connected life involves increasing use of video to communicate, connect and engage with our family and friends.

Cisco has long been involved in the video space and announced Cisco Videoscape at a pre-CES conference yesterday.  Cisco Videoscape brings entertainment together from infinite sources of content from pay TV, online and on-demand and combines it with the social media, communications, and mobility to create a truly immersive TV experience.
