The city in the forest—Atlanta, Georgia—extended a double dose of Southern charm to Cisco in April by awarding two prestigious information security industry awards at the 2nd Annual CSO40 Awards. The awards program recognizes projects and initiatives demonstrating innovative use of security in delivering outstanding business value.

Top honors went to the teams representing Cisco’s Enterprise ACL Management (EACLM) and Unified Security Metrics (USM) projects. Team members included: EACLM – Mark Sullivan, Network Engineer and Oisin MacAlasdair, Technical Staff and Security Prime for networking; USM – Gerwin Tijink, Information Security (InfoSec) Architect, Hessel Heerebout, USM Program Manager, and Ranjan Jain, IT Architect and Security Prime.

ACE Network: Bringing the Power of Video Meetings to Mobile BYOD Users

I spend a big part of my workday in virtual meetings, as an organizer, participant, or both. When I’m in my office, I can join those meetings from my desktop video endpoint, a Cisco TelePresence EX90, and enjoy the benefits of video communications.

ACE Network: Building Stronger Team Relationships with Video Calls

In my job as Program Manager for the Cisco IT Advanced Cisco Experience (ACE) Program, I need to meet regularly with my team members, leaders of the user communities we serve, and other colleagues who are all over the world.

Sure, I could handle some of these interactions with an audio-only phone call, but I’d miss the face-to-face interaction and I don’t have time to travel to meet each team in person. But today I conduct many of these small group meetings and individual conversations as HD-quality video calls over the personal Cisco TelePresence EX90 endpoint that’s on my desk, using the ACE network video services. ACE Network: Empowering Users with Self-Service Provisioning and Support Tools

When the ACE pilot network began inside Cisco, it supported a much smaller audience.  In those days we only had around 1000 users, and for the most part these were very technically savvy people.  Mostly they were power users, who could use tools normally provided to our engineering group with ease.  As our ACE “service introduction” network has grown to support over 13,000 users, we are now reaching a much wider audience that still wants to use leading-edge, first-deployment services; yet, with production-level support and ease of use.  To keep up with the needs of our evolving user base, we needed to reduce the amount of time our team was spending on routine provisioning and support tasks – which can take up a lot of time.
