Congrats to Abe Peled for the Lifetime Achievement Award at Cable Congress!

This week in London, our own Dr. Abe Peled accepted the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from Digital TV Europe, as part of its “Euro 50 Awards” at this week’s Cable Congress.

Anyone who knows Abe knows that he’s a quick-witted, highly intelligent, super-motivated gentleman, and we’re all sincerely glad he’s part of the Cisco team, following our acquisition of NDS in 2012.

Abe has 40 years of accomplishments in the digital TV industry. He started his television life in 1974 at IBM’s Research Division, working on advanced digital signal processing techniques, and advanced up and up and up until he was named VP/Systems and Software, overseeing all of IBM’s research labs, worldwide. His work there even landed his face on a cover story in the New York Times’ Business section, in August of ’91. Read More »

IBC 2012: Cisco and NDS on Fast Track to Deliver TV’s Future

Let’s face it, TV has changed more in the last five years than the first 50 combined.  And Cisco, backed by newly acquired NDS, is on a fast track to reinvent TV as we know it.

The International Broadcasting Convention (“IBC 2012”) commenced in Amsterdam today amid  anticipation for what Cisco and newly acquired NDS will deliver to an industry in  continuous transition, one that faces both unprecedented opportunity and rapidly shifting customer expectations.

Jesper Andersen, SVP and GM of Cisco’s Service Provider Video Technology Group, provided  insight into how his organization will enable a true next-generation TV experience that is more immersive, engaging and social, while creating new revenue opportunities for service and content providers worldwide. Cisco today revealed its expanded content delivery network portfolio, the Cisco Videoscape Distribution Suite (VDS), and announced several Videoscape customer deployments, as well.
