Highlights from IACA Sydney 2014 #ConnectedJustice #CiscoPublicSafety

iacasydneyI had the opportunity to attend the International Association for Court Administration (IACA) conference in Sydney, Australia last week. Congratulations to IACA for a very successful 7th conference with an amazing group of court leaders from more than 40 countries around the world.

Distinguished speakers and panels presented  important court administration topics including on the first day a range of important presentations:

Ciscolive! 25 Years of Networkers

CiscoLiveCisco hosted our first Networkers customer event, now Ciscolive!, 25 years ago.  Our first event was small with around 200 attendees focused on multiprotocal routing technologies.  This year more than 25,000 Cisco customers, partners, press, and analysts attended live in San Francisco, with over 200,000 participating online  with topics ranging from Intercloud, Collaboration, Security, and Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) to Connected Cities with Smart Parking, Traffic Management and  Public Safety, Connected Transportation, and Connected Government driving mission success to protect, educate, and serve.

I attended my first Cisco Networkers event 20 years ago in San Francisco and have worked on many exciting initiatives during my career the past 2 decades.  The role of networking technology as a platform for the Internet of Everything continues to evolve and accelerate more quickly being adopted and deployed in countries and communities around the world.

The week kicked off with keynotes and demonstrations highlighting the advances in technology as well as the potential for transformation in business and public sector.

#CiscoPublicSafety Series Kick-Off: New Technologies in Public Safety Systems

We are very excited to announce the beginning of our new blog series on public safety. This series will include a number of posts that examine the intersection of technology and public safety as well as identify solutions to promote greater awareness and action.

Having worked in this field for over 15 years, I am especially enthusiastic about sharing my thoughts and starting a conversation on these issues. Before leading the Cisco’s Connected Justice Solution and Public Safety Business Development team, I was a Chief of Police and dealt with all of the same issues that agencies are dealing with today.  Throughout my career, I have been passionate about improving the criminal justice system as well as government and public safety. Courts Excellence in a Changing World: Highlights from Day 2

02The second day of the Courts Excellence in a Changing World conference was even better than the first with a number of best practices demonstrating court excellence. Many of these best practices involve technology innovations that provide the foundation for transformation.

The best practices shared provided the courts capabilities for 24×7 citizen services, reduced costs, increased transparency, access from anywhere at anytime, increased citizen satisfaction, and more.
