Change happens either with us, by us or to us. Especially during the 3 Day IT Management Track at Cisco Live in Milan. We heard many things about leadership, disruption, change and innovation, and why it is the most important for leaders to listen, while sending the right signals to the audience. As Kevin Murray from the Good Relationship group stated: “People are afraid of ‘change’ but love to ‘innovate’ – so tell me the difference between ’change’ and ‘innovation’ – there is none!” If 60% of the companies’ assets are intangible, representing USD 35 trillion in total, leaders can really make a difference by valuing the people around them. 2014 ended with a flurry of technology conferences in Europe and the Middle East. In November, the European Commission’s (EC) annual Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Conference addressed how to make the EC a 21 Century organization. In December, the International Telecommunications Union Telecommunications Standardization Sector ( ITU-T) hosted a meeting in Doha, Qatar for CTOs. Among the issues discussed were updates on the Global Standardization Landscape, status of Internet of Things Standardization and next generation video technologies and standards. Also in Doha, at the same time The ITU hosted World Telecom whose theme was “Future in Focus: how disruptive developments in technology, business and society are transforming the ICT industry.” All the meetings gave us much to think about for 2015. Günther Oettinger , European Union Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society kicked-off the ICT DIGIT-IT conference by outlining his strategy for achieving a digital transformation within the European Union. He went on to detail specific areas he thought needed the most attention including:
- Effective Workplace
- Real time administration
- Open Data
- Collaborative working tools
- Security and cyber-security (mentioned as number 1 priority)
- Growing usage of Cloud for non-strategic data
- Importance of Big Data and Internet of Everything
- Openness and Collaboration between the different EU organizations
- Attracting young generation within EU, build and retain talent

CiscoLive! Milan 2015 kicks off on the 26th January and five Cisco IT graduates have been given the opportunity to attend the event as members of the IT Management (ITM) Program. On-site responsibilities will revolve around showcasing the impact & outcomes of Cisco IT to event attendees. We will also aim to reduce IT cost of delivering the ITM Program by assisting with operational activities, whilst gaining exposure to Cisco technologies, customers & partners.

According to recent Cisco research, global Internet traffic will grow nearly four-fold from 2010 – 2015. However, that increase in traffic won’t be dominated by one region. How much will each region contribute to the worldwide traffic expansion?
Just by sheer population size alone, one could assume that the Asia-Pacific region would lead in Internet traffic growth. However, that assumption would only be partially accurate. Asia-Pacific is forecast to lead in file-sharing traffic and Internet Gaming traffic. In terms of Internet TV, business IP traffic and VoIP bandwidth, other regions will be in the top spot.
