Right now, with business up 23% year over year, we’re proud to continue to see good performance in our Service Provider Video business– which underlines the importance of having a finger on the pulse of a thriving industry.

And, when one works for a company like Cisco that is focused on helping its service provider customers execute on service velocity, staying ahead requires careful and thoughtful adjusting.

To that end, I recently evolved Cisco’s Service Provider Video Technology Group into two business entities. One is the SP Video Software and Solutions business, which spans content security, software and solutions, including Videoscape offerings, conditional access, and services and delivery.

The SP Video Software & Solutions group will be run by Jesper Andersen, who oversaw the acquisition of NDS and the subsequent integration of more than 5,000 people into the Cisco family. I want to thank Jesper for his leadership and I’m confident that he will continue to do a remarkable job at the helm of SP Video Software & Solutions.

The second, called SP Video Infrastructure, will be the business entity that handles cable access, cable modems, video gateways and set-top boxes, and video infrastructure hardware, like encoders/decoders.

I am pleased to welcome Joe Cozzolino to the Cisco team, to run the SP Video Infrastructure business entity. Joe joins us from Motorola/Google, where he most recently served as SVP and GM of the Network Infrastructure Business. His experience in the cable and broadband SP Video sector spans 25 years, and we’re excited to have him with us.

This new construct, with two business entities, will enable us to focus even more intently on our customers, as well as driving scale, execution, and growth.

Yesterday was Joe’s first day. Please join me in welcoming him to the team!
