Hello, IP&TV World Forum! We’re in MR1, Gallery Level

It’s springtime in London (or near enough), which must mean it’s time again for the IP&TV World Forum. Here’s a handful of reasons why you should come by and see us this week!

1. Strong coffee that is free and plentiful. Enough said.

2. To check out a (deployed) way of wiring homes that aren’t wired. Last year, AT&T launched its “Free Your TV” offering in its U.S. footprint – an instantly popular product, because it lets consumers place their HDTV screens wherever they want – regardless of whether there’s a coaxial outlet nearby. If getting to signal to usual or unusual places in your house is on your wish list, come by.  We’ll fill you in on how the AT&T deployment is going (hint: really, really well).  Check out the AT&T ad here:

And while you’re in the stand, do check out our Videoscape demonstrations – Lots of cool new developments to see!. And if that’s not enough, ask us about progress to date with recent Videoscape newsmakers TELUS, Rogers, and Numericable.

3. Our own Doctor Ken (Morse) is keynoting on The Service Provider Media Cloud on Wednesday, and, while we’re slightly biased – he’s usually right. When: Wednesday, March 21, 10 AM London time. We can’t give away the full storyline here, but if you’ve been thinking about what it takes, infrastructure-wise, to get to next-generation media services, you’ll want to sit in. Read this transcript of a recent interview with Ken on IP Video here.

4. Likewise for clouds and connected devices, on Thursday at 12:40 PM London time, with our own Tim Sheppard. Tim is our head of video strategy/EMEA, and will be participating on a panel to go deeper into the cloud scene: Why it’s happening, what makes it complex, and where it’s going. His specific area of contribution: “Is the Cloud a Network Architectural Imperative in the Multiscreen World?”

Last but not least: Just learned that Videoscape is short-listed for the “Best Multiscreen TV Solution” award at this year’s Forum. And in partnership we’ve been nominated with AT&T for the aforementioned wireless receiver, in the “Best TV Consumer Device” division. We’ll know more on the eve of March 21, at the ceremony. Fingers crossed. London Film Museum – here we come: http://iptvawards.com/awards-categories/

Bonus Topic: On March 15, we announced our intention to acquire NDS.  A number of Cisco and NDS executives will be at IPTV World Forum who can explain why we think is a great combination.

That’s it for now. We really do hope to see you at the stand. Until then, and for breaking news and updates, follow us on Twitter at @CiscoSPVideo.
