Demand for 4G LTE services drives du to Cisco ASR 5000 Series

- September 10, 2012 - 0 Comments

The United Arab Emirates has seen a decade of unprecedented growth, and the country’s largest city, Dubai, has become a modern hub for global business.

The demand for mobile Internet services has grown right along with the population and du, a leading integrated service provider in the region, set out to meet this demand with the help of Cisco and the Cisco ASR 5000 Series mobile multimedia core.

The Cisco ASR 5000 Series allowed du to quickly and efficiently evolve its mobile network to enablehigh-speed 4G LTE mobile services while still providing highly reliable 3G access to subscribers.  The ASR 5000 also enables du to provide differentiated mobile Internet services with dynamic quality of service, policy control, and in-line services, further differentiating its advanced mobile services from its competitors.

Launched in 2006, du has managed to quickly capture 47% of the UAE mobile market and it was recently voted the best mobile broadband operator in the Middle East.

We like to think that Cisco had a small part in that success, but we know the credit goes to the innovative and customer-focused staff at du, and we are proud to partner with them.

Watch this short video with du EVP of Network Development and Operations, Hatem Bataraf, to see how du has managed to become the telecom success story of the Middle East.
