SP360: Service Provider

Last week, Cisco announced its latest Cisco Visual Networking Index Global IP Traffic Forecast, 2011-2016 from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The report showed that global Internet traffic is expected to grow four-fold over the forecast period, reaching 1.3 zettabytes annually by 2016.  And the total number of network connections will grow to 19 billion, or 2 and half connections for every man, woman, and child on Earth.

But what does this explosive growth mean for Internet users, providers, and the networks themselves? And more importantly what do these numbers say about the global economy and the impacts broadband can have on employment, new business opportunities, and revenue growth?

We asked our distinguished panel of speakers to give us their perspectives on how the growth in Internet access can drive parallel growth in economic benefits.

To see the complete report, including global, regional and some country-level forecast projections, go to www.cisco.com/go/vni, and watch a replay of the May 30, 2012 VNI event here.

Thanks as always for reading.
