Ready, Set, BlogHer: Behind the Scenes with Cisco (#BlogHerbet)
E-ticket: check. Hotel room reservation: check. Fancy outfit: check. Cute shoes: check, check. We’re only a day away from BlogHer|BET 2011 and just like how participants are getting ready for this event, so are we at Cisco. But our list goes something like this: Reception hors d’oeuvres: check. Sound: check. Lighting: check. TelePresence Suites: check. Virtual Concierge: check…and check.
This will be the first time in BlogHer history that we bring women together for a few hours in 3 US locations for idea exchange, networking and some good, old-fashioned fun. Participants will be able to see and interact with each other live and in life size. Yes, ladies: life size. Amy Friedlander Hoffman, Founder of Priority Digital Media and BlogHer mentor looks forward to this experience: “I’m familiar with virtual spaces, however I’ve never been to a Public TelePresence Suite before. Priority Digital Media is a strategic consulting practice that focuses on content and distribution strategies across TV, broadband and mobile and thus, I am excited to see how this next level of interaction will translate into future entertainment experiences”.
In the midst of all the preparation, I had a chance to sit down with Lenny Montano, Cisco TelePresence Suites Program Manager and Marketing Lead to get some interesting facts and stories about this facility. And Lenny didn’t hold back: “The Cisco TelePresence Suites hosted the first ever Virtual Book Launch celebration of one of Silicon Valley’s most respected strategists, Adrian Ott and her book, The 24-Hour Customer. We are re-inventing the way people communicate and conduct business through the use of our collaborative technologies. Having access to our Public Network of rooms has allowed many individuals and organizations to expand their footprint to reach a global audience – this is priceless. Cisco TelePresence Suites also partnered with AT&T and the Marriott TelePresence meetings rooms to bring the Doobie Bothers’ album release of World Gone Crazy with their much anticipated virtual world tour in 2010. I’m thrilled to be working with BlogHer this year to deliver BlogHer BET (Business Entrepreneurism and Technology) across different time zones. It is a great opportunity to connect with professionals and women bloggers to learn and share new practices.”
Jeanette Gibson, Director of Social Media Marketing at Cisco echoes Lenny’s sentiments: “We’re excited to be the host sponsor of the opening reception and connect with these amazing women. Not just via our TelePresence solution but also via social media. We’re looking forward to creating memories using video and sharing them via Twitter, blogs and other social media channels.”
