Meet Our SMEs: Muzhi Yu
A Client Services Manager based in Shanghai, China, Muzhi is one of the earliest proponents of social media in his country. He became a member of the Cisco Greater China Social Ambassador Program (a company-wide initiative with the goal of increasing the breadth and depth of SME engagement with social media) shortly after it was launched in November 2011. Thereafter, Muzhi joined Sina Weibo (China’s most widely used micro-blogging site akin to a hybrid of Twitter and Facebook) and created a personal Sina blog which he uses for discussions and educating others about technology.
In a matter of just a few months, Muzhi was able to build a network of over 700 followers on his personal Weibo account. Since then, he has amplified the Cisco voice through his network in addition to adding value to various other Cisco China social channels by way of his thoughtful comments and insights. Moreover, Muzhi has been guiding the official Cisco Weibo Operations team in responding to their audience inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
Muzhi Leads the Launch of the Cisco Afternoon Tea Time Event
One of Muzhi’s most remarkable accomplishments was driving the launch of the first Weibo Mini Interview event for the Greater China Social Program. Known as Cisco Afternoon Tea Time, this educational workshop was newly developed to connect Cisco fans with internal company experts and ambassadors through people’s various technical and business topics of interest. As a guest speaker, Muzhi managed and answered UPOE-related questions from the Weibo audience during the interview session. This event generated a total of 133 UPOE-related tweets, and after the event, Muzhi’s personal Weibo account’s followers increased by 38 followers while the Borderless Networks Weibo account’s followers increased by 40, which is double its average daily growth.
Although the interview session was originally planned for 30 minutes, it was extended to one and a half hours due to the exceptional enthusiasm the fans showed while engaging with Muzhi. His expertise and humor was well-received by the audience, and it triggered continuous interactions even after the event concluded. Feedback from the session’s participants has been very positive and encouraging, further confirming the prosperity of the event. With Muzhi’s passion, expertise, and excellent social communication skills, an innovative, quick and interactive social event model was created and helped lay out a strong foundation for the Greater China Social Ambassador Program.
