Digital and Social

Greatly active as a Cisco voice on the social landscape, Barun is a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) who experiments with more social media websites that you can keep track of—from Facebook to Quora to Pinterest to Paper.li…. you name it!

“Barun is the epitome of a true Social Ambassador,” says the India Social Ambassador Program Lead Shanker Sareen. A Customer Support Engineer whose technology forte is LAN Switching, Barun was one of the first SMEs to join the India Social Ambassador Program after it was initiated at the end of last year. This program is focused on increasing both the breadth and depth of SME engagement with social media.

Barun’s diligence and passion to learn more about social media is portrayed by the fact that he has attended practically all the social media trainings offered by the program designed to bring the SMEs up to speed on basic social media dos and don’ts. He acts as the top social media champion of India by not only being the first to act upon program opportunities but also ensuring that his content is of high quality and relevance to his audience. And he always packages his messages with a personal touch to make them more tangible to his readers.

Many times, social media practitioners ask themselves: “Where do we draw the line between our personal and professional being when expressing ourselves in social media?” Barun skillfully juxtaposes the two to garner the interest and popularity of his followers. For instance, he tweets about everything from his passion for cricket and cars to the latest and greatest Cisco technologies.

What was his objective for signing up for the India Social Ambassador Program?

“It would be a great honor to be Cisco’s ambassador and take the use of social networking sites to the next level by reaching out to customers and partners and sharing, interacting, and engaging with them more.”

Now this is the voice of a true social media expert!
