At Cisco we are old pros when it comes to the internal collaboration tools and the social intranet. With the recent releases of our next generation internal experience platforms and offering of Cisco Quad as a Enterprise Social Software product, we are sharing our own experiences more visibly.
On September 15th, Intranet User Experience Manager Diana Morshead and I will host a 75-minute session which will cater to the Communication professional: “Live Intranet Tour – Social Intranet Best Practices featuring Cisco” hosted by Ragan Communications. We will be covering a wide range of topics all pertaining to our intranet. It should be a nice informal session where we walk through the history of our intranet, some of the core conceptual models, and highlight learnings and key opportunities to take away from our experiences. Given the format there will be lots of opportunity for questions. We’ll discuss how some common tools can actually inhibit agility in the business (the risk of doing a Social Intranet the wrong way). A full summary of the event agenda and registration information can be found on the Ragan site.
I’m a bit late getting this up but, in July NN/g released their 4th edition of their Usability of Intranet Portals — a Report From the Trenches. Our internal social intranet platform called the Integrated Workforce Experience (IWE) powered by Cisco Quad was introduced in this 4th edition. This report is a very well respected independent assessment of advanced enterprise Intranets. The report covers numerous topics such as governance, business value, mobility, personalization and the integration of social features into the collaboration platform. If you are working in this space it should be required reading. The report is available for purchase on the NN/g site.
We are really looking forward to Thursday’s intranet session. It’s always nice to get real-time feedback.
