Community Managers are the unsung hero of social media ballads. However, today is Community Manager Appreciation Day (#CMAD), so step away from your Facebook, Twitter, Quora, or blog and give yourself a pat on the back!
In honor of #CMAD we created this image that truly captures the role of a Community Manager.
Whether it’s roping in the next big thing, finding the missing piece of the puzzle, racing against time, or connecting people, we understand that this role requires you wear many different hats and also rope them all in together. Thank you for making it appear so easy.
Odds are that as a Community Manager, if your hard work is going unnoticed, then you’re doing a good job. Community members may not realize that the Community Manager is the ones who toils over what content to generate/share, which sites to recommend, what privacy levels or applications to set… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Let’s just say that if I were to compile a list of Community Manager duties, we could be here awhile.
It’s no wonder they deserve their own holiday.
Internationally celebrated on the 4th Monday of every January, this holiday is a great time to sit back and truly absorb what you have accomplished. I’m particularly proud of My Cisco Communities. Within our first year of giving it some TLC we were able to achieve 88% growth in our membership. We’ve also seen tremendous progress in our Facebook Fan pages, Twitter accounts, virtual events and other Cisco Communities.
To find a celebration near you check out my post from Friday that includes a list compiled by Altimeter’s Group, Jeremiah Owyang.
While I can’t give you the day off, make sure you take a couple minutes to yourself and remember that we appreciate your devotion and commitment.
