Cisco Wins Two Business Marketing Association Awards

Every year, the Business Marketing Association honors “people who, knowing the difference, refuse to take the easy way out” and successfully balance style with results. This year, we’re excited to be the recipient of 2 “Awards of Excellence” in the Business to Business category:

  • Award of Excellence – New Product Launch:  Cisco Videoscape

The Cisco Videoscape solution is “a service provider solution that lets consumers bring together content from pay TV, online, and on-demand sources. They can then combine content with social media, communications, and mobility to create a truly immersive TV experience.” The campaign started months before the official launch at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011. Awareness building using social media included the “What If Your TV Could…? contest, which invited people to submit a video depicting what they would want their TV to do for them in everyday life, and the “Live the Beautiful Game” video, which allowed people to create a personalized video and put themselves into the World Cup Football action by uploading their picture and customizing their shirt by name. The campaign continued with a humorous teaser video, “Obsolete TV Support Group”, released a few weeks before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and earned broad blog coverage, including Multichannel News. At CES, the announcement was supported by several other social media activities, including an interactive timeline: The History and Future of Television. ZDNet concluded, “Cisco deserves top honors for vision and Videoscape”.

  • Award of Excellence – Customer Event:  The Doobie Brothers Concert

You gotta love your job when you get to do something for your customers and partners that not only provides for a great bonding experience but is also a lot of fun. And what can be more fun than connecting close to twenty-thousand people around the world -- physically, virtually and over TelePresence – and doing it with one of the world’s most popular bands? In a nutshell, the Doobie Brothers partnered with Cisco on the release of their new album “World Gone Crazy”. To showcase how technology can help with an album debut, we set up an intimate “concert hall” on our San Jose campus (I guess in the music world, a crowd of 300 is considered intimate) for Cisco employees and some special guests, and broadcast the live concert over UStream. In addition, we hosted some of our customers, partners and radio contest winners at 11 TelePresence locations around the US, thanks to our partners Marriott and AT&T.
