The Facebook Timeline
On March 30, 2012, Social Media B2B unveiled its list of the 10 best B2B Facebook Timeline cover photos. And, happily, the cover photo for the Cisco corporate Facebook page was included as one of the best inspirational photos!
I was super excited about this because I recently joined the Cisco Global Social Media team, and this was the first opportunity I had to engage with my counterparts at Cisco (Brand and Social Media Corporate Communications) in my new role. It was also my first opportunity to reach out to our extended social media teams at Cisco and provide them with resources to make their jobs easier.
I worked closely with the brand team and social media corporate communications teams to determine the best strategy for taking full advantage of the Facebook timeline. Lindsay, from the social media corporate communications team, identified existing milestones from the wall of our Executive Briefing Center (EBC) and tracked down the photography. At the same time, Fernando, from the brand team, created cover photos and profile images that we could use for the Cisco Facebook page as well as our other Facebook pages such as the Cisco Borderless Networks Facebook page.
I also participated in a forum organized by the socialmedia.org community where a group of social media managers from a variety of brands discussed best practices for their Facebook timeline page. It was really fun to collaborate with folks outside Cisco.
Fernando, Lindsay, and I gathered up all our learnings and assets and presented them in a training session for social media managers across Cisco. We also had extra help from Brian on the brand team to upload all the great assets that Fernando created to our brand library. It was gratifying to help our team members across Cisco and it’s exciting to see our efforts pay off. Having our cover photo named among the top inspirational images for B2B companies resonates well with our new brand campaign messaging that’s gaining traction across the company: Cisco’s true value is not in what we make. It’s in what we make possible.
