Jess Wells, our long time Community Manager and expert content provider has decided it’s time for her career to take her in new directions. She’s done such an amazing job here and we thank her for all her hard work.
When she announced her decision, we took a look at what was working and what was not. As a result, we’ve decided to make some changes to Innovators Forum. Almost every article about launching a successful small business starts by suggesting that you find a niche and focus on it rather than try to be all things to all people. This basic advice is critical and I’ve seen it work time and time again, people follow their passion and form a successful business.
We want to form a successful community with rich interaction. In the past we offered a lot of posts on general business advice and less on technology. After some soul searching we realized that technology is what we know best. We understand how it”s made and how it can be used to help businesses improve performance. So instead of trying to be all things to all people, we want to be the place you come for advice on how to select and implement technology. And we don’t want to do all the talking. PLEASE don”t make me do all the talking …
I’m the new Community Manager for Innovators Forum so I’ll for sure be the chief yacker, but my 11 years of travels at Cisco have taught me that Innovation happens more when people use the technology than when we invent it. For example, we thought for sure the only reason anyone would want to buy our IP Video Surveillance would be for security. Makes sense right? Yet the first IP Video Surveillance customer I visited, Skye Cosmetic Dental, wasn’t primarily concerned about theft. They were using the camera’s to monitor the front door instead of having to pay a receptionist to sit at the desk all day. Watch the video below to learn more.
If you want to write a guest post to tell us what you are doing I”d love to post it, just let me know. We can learn a lot more from sharing with each other so join the conversation. Ask a question, brag about yourself — I bet someone will learn in the process and we want to share your story.
If you have a technology topic you”d like us to write about just ask, if we can we will.
