Security

While the thoughts of many of us may turn to (American) football, Halloween, and raking leaves (at least those of us on the East Coast of the U.S.), the turning of the calendar page to October also means something else to all of us in the cyber security world.  October, 2011 marks the eighth annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC).In support of this effort, Cisco will be posting a security “Tip of the Day” on its Security Blog each business day (Monday -- Friday) during the month of October. Readers will be able to search for all of these tips at once by using the “cyber-security-month-2011″ tag via this URL: http://blogs.cisco.com/tag/cyber-security-month-2011.

The focus of these security tips runs the gamut of topics, including, but not limited to, prudent password management, staying safe online, and keeping your software and applications patched and up to date. These tips are written by many different members of the Cisco community, all of whom hold different roles here at Cisco and who have varied security backgrounds and perspectives. We hope that you find the information contained in these security “Tips of the Day” useful, informative, and enlightening. Enjoy and stay secure!

In an effort to keep conversations fresh, Cisco Blogs closes comments after 90 days. Please visit the Cisco Blogs hub page for the latest content.
