Abhinav Purohit joined IDC in December 2010 as a senior communications research analyst for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa. Based in IDC\'s MEA headquarters in Dubai, Purohit performs regular syndicated analysis and consulting for clients in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining IDC, Purohit served as a manager with the telecom and media practice at Evalueserve in India and led an 8 – 10-member global telecom consultancy research desk. He has five years of research and consulting experience specialising in market opportunity assessment, developing launch/entry strategies, and portfolio evaluation and expansion, especially in mobile value-added services (VAS) for operators. He also worked extensively with mobile operators in the MEA region. Some of the major studies Purohit had previously been involved with include market assessment for a new mobile operator launching services in the MEA region, benchmarking of global best practices in the mobile VAS space, and analyzing innovative offerings for low-revenue customers with a special view towards effective tariffs.
