Brice, Samuel, and I got the crazy idea to write a magazine article about hwloc to expand its reach to people outside the HPC community. We wrote something up and submitted it to Linux Pro Magazine — and they accepted it!
I just got my copy in the mail — it’s published in the July issue: “Lessons in Locality: hwloc.”

From my time in academia, I have a bunch of conference publications and even a few journal articles, but publishing in a magazine seems novel and fun. There’s something inexplicably nifty about being able to walk down to your local Barnes and Noble and see your name in a printed publication on the shelf. w00t!
All 3 of us donated what we would have been paid for the article to the Free Software Foundation.
I believe that it takes a while for the print articles to show up online, so go buy your copy today and support Linux Pro Magazine. :-)
