It’s been a busy couple of weeks around here and we’ve got a fresh batch of news for partners!
In this week’s Partner Update newscast, Andrew finds out that even though an actual cloud can’t stream his music, Cisco’s new Cloud Partner Program offers everything partners need to capitalize on the growth of cloud, which is expected to reach $172 billion by the year 2014.

Capitalizing on the New Cloud Partner Program
The new program offers three tracks for partners:
- Cloud Builder which is for partners who design and implement cloud-ready infrastructures or fully-provisioned private or public clouds.
- Cloud Provider for companies that are in the business of offering public cloud services to the market “X-as-a-Service.” This role supports and enables our Cloud Provider partners to sell their own “Cisco Powered” branded cloud services.
- And, finally, Cloud Services Reseller which is complementary to the Cloud Provider role and becomes an additional route to market for the Cloud Provider. Cloud Services Resellers are partners who offer “white-label” or resell a Cloud Provider’s “Cisco Powered” Cloud Service.
Myths of the Good-Enough Network
Michael Rau, Cisco’s Vice President and CTO for the Borderless Network Architecture, is debunking the top networking myths on SiliconANGLE’s Myths of the Good-Enough Network weekly blog series.
- Myth #5, the Basic Warranty, says your basic warranty that comes with a “good enough” network is, well, not that great. If your customers’ network goes down, most basic warranties do little to help get the network back up and running. Why? Check out the Channels Blog for more details on that and the five things your customers should consider when purchasing network equipment.
- Myth # 6 is the Acquisition Cost myth which says that buying hardware is just a small piece of the overall network cost. Saving on CAPEX means nothing if your customer’s productivity and business opportunities are lost when the network goes down all the time.
Seattle Children’s Hospital Deploys Virtual Desktops
IT can make our lives easier, but it can also save lives. We caught up with Chief Technical Architect Jake Hughes from the Seattle Children’s Hospital who told us how Citrix, Cisco, and AppSense solutions supported a 3000-plus deployment of virtual desktops and zero clients.
