Retaining top-performing employees is a constant challenge that many companies face. And during these rocky economic times, managing that challenge can be difficult.

For those businesses looking at ways to find and keep great talent, here are three tips, courtesy of Leigh Clifford Drake, Director of Cisco’s Worldwide Partner Talent Organization.

So what does Leigh suggest? Here’s her advice, as well as some key findings from a recent survey conducted by the Cisco Partner Talent team.Think of Talent Comprehensively: Talent involves the full spectrum from hiring to looking at your culture, and understanding what it takes to keep your best talent.

Align Your Business and Talent Strategies: As Cisco evolves to architectures, we need to align our changing business strategies to our talent strategies, and partners should also try to do the same thing.

Integrate Talent into Everything You Do: You can be more agile if you integrate talent into your business. Being agile breeds innovation, creative thinking, and also improves employee satisfaction.

In addition to Leigh’s helpful tips, it’s useful to consider the results from the annual partner survey conducted by the Cisco Partner Talent Team. The survey showed that you, our partners, anticipate growth and want the right support to maximize their talent strategies.

What else did we learn? Well, we also found out that 95 percent of you have been hiring steadily in response to internal cost-cutting measures, a loss of top talent, and a need to accelerate quickly, and that demand continues for individuals with high-end technical skills.

In response to this feedback and in support of the changing business landscape, Cisco has realigned its talent offerings. Be sure to check out the new Cisco Fit4Talent framework, which addresses six different stages of talent development from hiring to coaching and mentoring.
