The Idea That Changed the World

Once in awhile, an idea comes along that changes everything.

Well, this isn’t one of those ideas. But after 25 episodes of Partner Update, perseverance has to count for something.

The goal of Partner Update was simple: create a short, five-minute newscast that would get partners up to speed on the latest Cisco headlines. While our first go at it was nearly unwatchable, the newscast has grown and evolved and now features a varied medley of news, partner interviews, highlights, and updates.

Of course, Partner Update isn’t just for our partners, it’s about our partners. During our 25 episode stint, we’ve highlighted dozens of extraordinary Cisco partner achievements, from new data centers, to social media campaigns, to cool gadgets and products. We’ve even featured your tweets, videos, and Facebook posts.

Here’s a short trip down Partner Update memory lane featuring partner interviews, bloopers, highlights, and behind-the-scenes footage.

Cisco Partner Marketing Update: Priorities, Campaigns, Social Media, and More

Last week, we held a TweetChat with Cisco’s new Global Partner Marketing VP Amanda Jobbins.

During the hour-long Twitter session, we covered a lot of ground–Amanda’s Partner Marketing priorities, new campaigns for partners, what she heard on her listening tour with partners, and ways that Cisco is helping partners use social media.

We also learned some interesting factoids about Amanda and how she’s adjusting to life in the United States after living in the U.K.

If you missed the chat, we’ve got a recap of what was discussed, including Amanda’s answers to some great audience questions. This is the first of many discussions Amanda plans to have with partners and wants to continue the dialog to ensure that marketing programs reflect what partners need. You can send along questions and comments to her directly @amandajobbins.

We started the chat off with a few interview questions for Amanda to warm up, then answered audience questions:

Q1: What are your key priorities for Cisco Partner Marketing?

@amandajobbins: I have 5 goals: brand/value, online/social communities, marketing enablement, demand marketing, & ecosystem.

Two additional driving principles: communications & partner insight.

Q2: Cloud is the word on everyone’s lips…how are you helping partners market cloud? Read More »

It’s Hot in Miami: Collaboration Summit News Highlights

It used to be that everyone had to be at the office to work. Phone, desk, computer, email–that was it. We’ve come quite a long way since those days and I personally am thankful. Using WebEx, Jabber, video, and a phone means I can work at home in my sweats on most days. I’m sure you have your own list of reasons that may or may not include a relaxed work-at-home attire.

This week at the Collaboration Summit in Miami, collaboration took a huge leap forward. Unified Communications via Jabber can now happen via a Web plug-in, so customers can use IM, Android, click-to-call and click-to-video from Apple, BlackBerry, Windows, and even Nokia devices.

Not only does collaboration offer great benefits to your own work experience, but these tools are a great way for partners to differentiate, too, by offering a host of integrated solutions and services to customers. And with channel programs, incentives, sales and marketing resources, partners can earn even more profits on the countless ways to customize collaboration solutions.

Plus, the Jabber Software Development Kit means new collaboration-enabled applications. (More details on the Collaboration blog.)

Let’s see, what else happened this week? New versions of WebEx, partners, parties, demos, and Cius ambassadors roaming the halls.

Broadcast Recap: Tips for Collaboration, Igniting Performance, Sparking Creativity

What do air sandwiches, cogs, and boxes have in common?

Well, if you attended yesterday’s Virtual Partner Velocity broadcast, you’ll recognize that these are things that companies should avoid using if they want to be successful.

Cisco Vice President of Global Partner Marketing Amanda Jobbins kicked off the broadcast featuring author and business strategist Nilofer Merchant who shared actionable tips on how to ignite performance, spark creativity (versus making “stuff”), and humanize the people within organizations.

Nilofer also shared several examples of how companies create silos within their organizations causing huge gaps and lack of collaboration throughout. Don’t worry, she shared tips on how to close the gaps and collaborate effectively, whether you’re a CEO or just starting your career. Finally, Nilofer spent the second half of the broadcast answering questions that were tweeted in from the audience.
