In this afternoon’s General Session, Keith Goodwin, SVP of our Worldwide Partner organization, introduced author and social scientist Jim Collins who gave a fascinating presentation centered on the day’s theme of Leadership.
He addressed the question of why some companies thrive in uncertainty, even chaos, and why others do not. He also talked about what differentiates “good” from “great.” His answers were based on nine years of research, including six books, which have sold more than ten million copies worldwide.
“The ‘x’ factor and essence of great leadership is not personality,” said Jim. “The ‘x’ factor is humility, combined with a ferocious will.” He also noted that great leaders—and great companies—pick people better than themselves to be on their teams, are tenacious about confronting brutal facts and realities, ask more questions than make statements, and see themselves as being in service for a cause.

Transform the Network Promotion—An Opportunity to Help Customers Transition
Rob Lloyd, VP of Worldwide Sales, introduced an outstanding promotion that partners can leverage to help customers move to the next level of infrastructure necessary to handle the next-generation of Internet traffic. Here are the details:
The Transform the Network promotion will help partners successfully evolve the Catalyst 6500 Non-E Chassis to Catalyst 6500E with Sup2Ts, or Catalyst 4500s in the Campus, as well as Nexus 7000 or Nexus 5000/2000 in the data center.
To help partners capture the campus upgrade market, the program will also offer an extra discount of 5% on the Catalyst 6500E with Sup2Ts and 4% on the Catalyst 4500. To help partners go after the data center, Cisco is offering a rebate of 5% on the Nexus 7000, and 3% on the Nexus 5000/2000.
In addition, Cisco is providing limited-time offer product bundles of up to 44% on Catalyst and Nexus platforms, as well as Cisco Capital financing options to help simplify the transition.
The combination of all of the incentives listed can represent up to two to five times increase of a partner’s normal hardware margins. So don’t wait. Find out more. More Jabber for Everyone Freebies! You Need to Read This!
Partners at the event told us they were excited about yesterday’s announcement of Jabber for Everyone. This lets you enable Jabber instant messaging and TelePresence on every device across the enterprise with no licensing cost for customers. Today, the excitement just went up a notch: Rob announced that Cisco is offering in Q4 a $1 million Jabber for Everyone Partner Services Incentive to reimburse partners for services associated with deploying Jabber.
“We want Jabber on iPhones, iPads, Android all around the world,” said Rob. “This will lead the way to ‘Work, Your Way’ and the Unified Workspace.”
Cisco will provide a services payment to help partners kick-start their Jabber deployment and integration. There will be two different levels of services payouts—up to
$20,000 per qualifying customer deployment—based on the number of Jabber licenses or size of the deal. The services reimbursements apply to partners in every geography! But it’s first come, first serve until the $1 million is gone.
