Cisco Executives Share Key Takeaways from Partner Summit 2012
Networking. Learning. Fun. Our 16th annual Partner Summit in San Diego, California had it all, creating an energizing and forward-thinking environment for our global partners.
Our executives also had a lot to say in between keynotes and networking sessions with much of the focus on Cisco’s vision for the future and our strategy for getting there. The most important topic of conversation, however, was how much we value partners.

With 80 percent of Cisco’s business going through our partners, each executive agreed that our partners are at the heart of Cisco’s success. Here are their key takeaways:
Rob said that, “This year’s Partner Summit was first and foremost about innovation.” He also emphasized that, “Our partners feel that perhaps the biggest opportunities for both of us are still in front of us.”
Keith echoed this sentiment, saying that Cisco needs to continue working closely with partners to lead the market transitions around cloud, mobility, and video. “We know how to do that together,” he said.
He also added that Cisco and our partners need to position architectures, services, and smart solutions as our primary differentiators and profitability drivers. In addition, accelerating investment in Partner Led and Partner Plus is crucial to accelerating our success in the mid market and small.
“This year’s Partner Summit has been absolutely great for our Services business,” said Nick. “Our biggest takeaway, of course, is the launch of the biggest change in our Services program in 15 years.”
We also talked to Edison Peres, SVP, Worldwide Channels, who said the main areas of focus are continuing to broaden our partner philosophy; helping partners capture the cloud opportunity through evolutions in the partner program; and the importance of architecture, especially as we move toward cross architecture.
