Making things easier, is always a good thing. I recently spoke with Phil Sherburne, vice president of Enterprise Systems and Architectures for Cisco about two announcements Cisco made today to resell industry leading desktop virtualization software and how Cisco is making desktop virtualization a whole lot easier for our partners and our customers to purchase.
Phil Sherburne said, “ In my role leading Cisco’s Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) business, I have the opportunity to meet with many IT executives from Cisco’s top customers that are considering desktop virtualization deployments. Last year most of the executives I met with were kicking the tires and doing early pilots. They were mainly concerned with cost, complexity and also the scalability of their deployments. At Cisco we have been taking these concerns seriously with the goal of making it easier for IT to take the virtual desktop plunge, while ensuring that users have a surprisingly satisfying virtual desktop experience. One of the many things these customers have been asking Cisco for is for us to further enable their system integrator partners to deliver a completely integrated desktop virtualization solution.”
“So today we announced one more step in that direction.” He continued. “ Cisco will now resell both VMware View™ and Citrix XenDesktop®, as part of our desktop virtualization solutions. For our partners, these agreements will make it easier for them to work with Cisco and offer integrated solutions, building on our Unified Data Center, Borderless Networks and Collaboration technologies. For our customers it means that their system integrators can respond faster to their IT and business needs, with more complete service and finance packages, together with end-to-end support for the complete desktop virtualization solution.”
So as customers move from early pilots to broader deployments, at Cisco we are committed to helping IT build and maintain the most cost-effective, scalable and high-performance desktop virtualization solution for hosting, securing and optimizing the delivery of virtual desktops and enterprise applications. With this integrated desktop virtualization technology in place, businesses can extract immediate value from this architecture through practical applications such as:
- Protect and manage user’s data in the most scalable and secure data center
- Facilitate the virtual workspace by allowing users to re-create their “office” from anywhere at any time on any device
- Take advantage of the proliferation of today’s mobile devices to drive innovation across the business
- Encourage frequent employee collaboration to further drive productivity
It’s amazing the things a business can implement once the difficulties of desktop virtualization are eliminated; we’re pleased that Cisco and its partners are leading the way in aiding the cause.
