Hi all, I’m Kati Dahm and I’m interning with the Social Media Communications team at Cisco this summer. I’ll be taking over for Lindsay with your top news stories of the week, coming from The Network to your computer every Friday. With The Network fully underway, these are our top stories of the week.

1.)  Innovators: Dino Fainacci on the Magic of LISP

Dino Farinacci has developed a tool called LISP to make the transfer between technology easier than it’s ever been. No wires, no dialing in, no hassle!

2.)  Big Data: The New Frontier of Analytics

Collecting and analyzing colossal amounts of data used to be considered impossible. With this new database, a big feat is becoming smaller and smaller.

3.)  Got Stories Ideas? Submit Them to “The Network!”

As part of the launch of our new corporate newsroom, “The Network”: Cisco’s Technology News Site” we want to hear from you! Submit your story ideas that fall under the following six topics: video, collaboration, data center/virtualization, core networks, Cisco culture and social media. If seeing your name in print (or really, HTML) isn’t enough, you also will win brand new gear from “The Network”.

4.)  Social Spoken: Rachna Vohra on Technology and Education

The second poet in our summer poetry series is Rachna Vohra. Rachna’s poem, “The Classroom Just Got Bigger,” tells the story of technology’s impact on learning and its impact on the global classroom.

5.)  Cisco Unveils Enterprise Application Ecosystem for the Cius

Cisco has unveiled AppHQ for the Cius, Cisco’s enterprise business tablet. AppHQ, the newest addition to the Cius tablet is an application ecosystem that creates, manages and deploys enterprise applications, making it easier for project managers to control and maintain good business practices. In the upcoming week, we have some great features that range from business to slam poetry. Stay tuned for these exciting additions to The Network.

That’s all for this week, but I’ll see you same page, same address next week. Have a great weekend!

  5. I’m so interested about the LISP technology. Though, I don’t know how to use it for now, but the concept of this new technology will be a big benefit for me and my family since my husband is always on travel. By that, we could communicate wherever he is and whenever I want. Thank you for Dino Farinacci for developing this very useful tool. He’s a genius! :)

  6. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory developed the Technology Commercialization Portal (techportal.eere.energy.gov) for DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Through streamlined searching, the portal whittles down the more than 7 million patents and patent applications to a more manageable 14,000.
