Today, cities are becoming the epicenter of the Internet of Everything (IoE), where people, things, data and process can be connected to deliver new and amazing value. At the current pace of connectivity, Cisco predicts some 25 billion devices will be connected by 2015, and 50 billion by 2020. Today, furthering IoE innovations, Cisco and AGT announced a global strategic alliance to dramatically change the way today’s cities are managed and secured using cloud technologies and edge analytics.

The Cisco and AGT partnership will greatly improve the networking of a wide variety of devices, sensors and s1ocial media inputs. Combining Cisco intelligent networking infrastructure with AGT’s software platforms will enable the integration of previously disparate data, revealing new ways to manage city infrastructures, reduce management costs and improve the lives of citizens with a new generation of urban services. With 180,000 people moving into cities every day, there is an opportunity to transform the future of cities and make them more livable, safe and enhance the quality of life for everyone.

IoE has the potential to generate $4.6 trillion in value for public sector organizations over the next decade by helping governments create value by saving money, improving employee productivity, generating new revenue without raising taxes and enhancing citizen benefits. Through this joint effort, Cisco and AGT will enable more efficient and predictable management of cities by realizing the promise of IoE. Future solutions promise fewer power outages, cleaner air, less crime and other improvements to everyday life. Today, only about one percent of the devices in the world are connected; the cities of 2020 will be truly transformed as IoE connects people, systems and governments as never before.
