New Cisco iPhone Security App. Ruins Lunch Hour of Security Officers Everywhere
Over the weekend, you might have picked up some buzz about a new Cisco iPhone application that was launched last Friday. The Cisco® SIO To Go is an app. that Internetnews.com said could have just ruined the lunch hour of security officers everywhere.
We say “not true!” Rather than prevent security officers from ‘switching off’, we prefer to think Cisco has made it a whole lot EASIER for them to grab lunch without worrying they’ll be missing a threat to the network for which they are responsible. Check out the video here to get a sense of the poor embattled souls we’re trying to help!

Powered by Cisco Security Intelligence Operations (SIO), the new application promises to put a Cisco security expert in the pocket of anyone with an iPhone.
The application pushes SIO alerts, mitigation info and up-to-the-minute computer security information to iPhones and iPod Touch devices. Additionally, it offers blogs, podcasts, Tweets, videos, press releases and other cool tidbits of information from Cisco.
“In a world where your customers or employees are not always connected to a network, we wanted to put Cisco security in the palm of your hand,” Cisco manager of integrated marketing for security, Michael Weir, told AFP.

That’s pretty great. I can’t say it’s the first time I’ve seen that angle, but it was well done.
